Some of us are quite accustomed to left-over holes.
Other than that cosmetic glitch, the new ones fit
and can replace the elephant ears ?

They use the same size hole as the Bongo and Big Al, but they would not fit in the current Reflex, as those tuners use a smaller hole. Also, the new tuners need 2 small holes drilled for aligning it on the headstock.

+1 adds to the futuristic/Jetsons look of the bongo headstock (and Big Al body). For a split second, though, I thought (uggh, I*an*z), but then seeing them mounted on the headstock, I saw the light.

They look nice and go well with the Bongo. A half a pound is quite a significant weight savings. I could even see a more "standard" clover leaf version for the other models.

The new tuners have a substantially smaller footprint on the back of the headstock and therefore you would see the old screw holes from the Schaller tuners if you tried to replace them. I know it's a bummer that they can't be retrofitted, but now you have an excuse to buy that new bass!

But will they fit as long as I don't care seeing the little holes from the Schallers? Or is the post smaller also?

Edit: Forget it, question already answered... ;-)
