I don't know why, but this song feels some kind of empty to me. do you have any suggestions?

Thanks and Regards,
Mikel

Myspace isn't really ideal to evaluate mixes, but I hear what you mean.
It sounds good but doesn't have that BIG feel too it. Still sounds like a band jamming in a small room to me.

Probably would benefit a bit with some different reverbs. I would tweak the low frequencies as well to get 'em to thump your chest more.

I'd love to attempt my mix at this song. I'm no pro but have been really interested in the art for the last few months and have learned a lot.

Let me know if it interests you. PM me. Maybe you can send all the raw multitracks to rapidshare or something.

I feel the same as the guy above. It sounds very dry, and that makes it sound very demoish. I also think the guitars need work, not the playing, but the distortion is a little ho-hum. You might be able to liven it up with some eq and verb, but that might not work. It sounds good, but I agree it sounds thin. Good tune though!

Something bugs me about this clip... The snare. Sounds like it was recorded very cheaply... Like most demos. It's like it's got too much mids. And yes, the guitars sound very dry and small. I'm not feeling the volume of the amp you were playing at. The overall track sounds like the mix could use a bit more balls though...

we re-amped the guitars, so there'll be still an option to change some gainsettings, so thanks for the hint. I wanted to use more gain anyway, but I was voted down ;) anything else?

I agree. Sounds damn good though. You could take some of the edge of the high frequencies in the guitars. Like
Chemical Wedding. But I really like it. Excellent writing and performance. Do you have a record I can buy?

sorry, we don't have any cd's out yet. POWLEEN quite young and those 2 records are actually the first we wrote together. it'll take some time until we'll have enough songs for a whole cd

I agree with the snare thing.

It affected me a little differently. I listened to it three times just to get a good feel for the tune. First of all kudos on the arrangement. Great transitions and section length.

More effects on the vocals would be nice and I don't like the fade in at the beginning. I'd say start off strong and cut the intro in half. My main thing that I don't dig is how produced it sounds, but that maybe the sound you are going for. I'm not into over protooling a song until it no longer sounds like a band. It just sounds really cut and pasted to me. Did everyone record separately?

Overall, great work though. Love the ride trailing off at the end. Cool.

yeah, I'm unsure about those effects, too. realizing the guitar-effects on stage wouldn't be a problem since we've done them with an axe-fx, but of course the drums won't work that way.. yup, we recorded seperately and I think it takes away some of the power, the metrum might also be too stiff to let this song live..?
