Hey Guys,

Looking for something to compliment my *****ocaster, which I'm sorry but I love. I had a petrucci, but found I wasn't playing metal much. I just like everything, but I don't shred too much- I like getting new sounds and writing. Which is better for, well, everything? And I still can't decide between a hardtail morse or a trem luke...

Probably Morse. It has more pickups, therefore more sounds. Get an Axis with the Humbuckers instead of the MM90s. Might suit you more than the other one did.

Yeah man. I loved your ASS and I sold it to someone who lives the next town over. If I was rich, I would have kept it. The thing is, Pete has the Luke I want. Another guy has the Morse I want in NY. And I have a gig tomorrow night. Hmm.

If you're keeping your Strat then I'd recommend the Morse. The Luke is kind of a super Strat and the Morse is its own animal. I think you would have more variety this way.

There's no single guitar that can do all the job. Why dont you sell away your JP, use the money to fund a SM AND a Silo Spec? :D

My EMG'd piezo SiLO with the split coils and the Morse bridge switch comes to mind. That or Beej's piezo Morse.

For the purpose of this discussion I would suggest a piezo Luke. But I do love my Morse.

Morse. More different tones, better sustain and more picking control due to the hardtail (at least it is so for me), the neck is easier to adjust to, no active pick-ups, and You have a strat for the in-between single coil sounds anyway...

I'd suggest the Morse for you.

The Morse is more versatile than the Luke, no question. It has four pickups (one more than the Luke has), so it has a larger variety of sounds than does the Luke. (How many of them would be useful to you, however, is a completely different question.) And it would be a better complement to your Strat since is has a humbucker, rather than a single coil, in the neck position, whereas the Luke, like the Strat, has a single coil neck pickup.

Nice dilemma to have...

Having played S/S/S, H/S/S, & S/S/H guitars for most of my guitar playing life, I can tel you you can't go wrong with either. With the Morse though, you can get 11 different tones to the Luke's 5. That said, do you need 11? I use them all. Now also, there's a bit of a learning curve with the Morse switching. If you have a gig in the next few days, you might find yourself fumbling around with the switching for the first little bit. I did. But, it's very logical in design and makes sense.

Personally, I'd go with the Morse. I know one guitar doesn't do it all and both Luke and Steve Morse have very eclectic styles. I truly think one of those guitars would handle pretty much any musical situation.

That's good advice.

I love my Morse, but it's a different animal than, say, my AL. If I just want to crank out some single coil goodness I usually reach for another guitar, though live I can cover some of the same tones with the Morse.
