You know - the one that allows you to swap pick guards quickly? What's the name of that thing? Can I get them at RS or some electronics parts store? I'd like to build a few pick guards for swapping. Thanks! :)

Hi Greg,

Molex is the manufacturer. You can get them at most places that sell electronics parts or online parts distributers. They are a huge manufacturer and sell many different connectors, so you need to be sure that you order the right model and gender so that it will mate up with the end that will stay attached to the guitar when you remove the pickguard. I haven't had the pickguard off of any of my EBMMs, so I can't tell you which part number (or model and gender) that you will need, but I'm sure someone here or CS will be able to. If Pete finds one for you he'll likely be able to tell you from that.

Greg, whatcha doin???

Glenn |B)

You know how I can never leave anything stock, right?

Well, I've got a good chance of doing a trade that will land me an MM90 loaded AL to go with my (formerly - yeah, I modded it ) HH AL, and I'm thinking I'd like to have about 4 different guards to swap in and out: HH, MM90, SSH and something else not yet determined. We'll see. It all hinges on the trade happening. Fingers crossed! ;)

Greg, good luck man. Not sure if the HH will work on an 3MM90 setup, won't the pups be spaced too far apart? It's not routed like a swimming pool!!! Or are you gonna mod it?

I have a piezo silo, so is the logical place to put the molex by the piezo board? or closer to the pickguard components? Where is the standard locale?

Pic?

great pix. Thank you for digging those up. I just got my mouser package today and have one last question. In order to have a standard EBMM universay application of this, which one goes where? Point end of molex is ?, then ?, flat pin is?

I know, i know alot to ask. I'm taking the silo apart tomorrow and will put a second one in for the piezo also.

Not sure what you mean exactly ... the plug goes with the pickguard, it has the male pins in it (like in the picture). The receptacle is wired to the body, it has the female connectors in it.

You wire the leads to the pins, crimp them, then push them into the plastic housings, and you should be good to go.

what order do the colors go in. I can arbitrarily put the wires to the Molex, but wondering if there is a EBMM standard so I could say connect it to another factory EBMM that has a Molex and not have to resoldier. Is it, (starting from pointy end of the connector), Black, Red, White? or White, Black Red or ???
