From a google search I found that "The Excels" was a band from the sixties that recorded a couple of singles. The bass player plays in the local cover band "James and the Groove Kings" and coaches at a Garland, TX high school. (Think Arlen, TX in "King of the Hill".) He probably lives in Richardson which is a city neighboring Garland. That's apparently the "fame" that makes this bass so valuable.

Maybe I should drive over to Richardson and pick up that "hand built" bass that was played by "The Excels" bassist. It should continue to rise in value with that kind of heritage.

Your EB must not be that old, because that is the style case with which they used to come. It is the old style fender case, and it most certainly is not a "piece of crap."


btw, I see that the seller slightly changed the wording and removed the words "mass production."
