Hey everyone
I just looked at Bovinehosts Caprice pics, and noticed the bridge does not have anchor bolts:confused:
Then, looking at the Musicman site I see it has hollow saddles, so now I am real curious about the why's:) (Yes I do remember there being hollow saddles waaaay back, but I can't remember why they were changed out for solid ones)
I can of course guess: Using just a few normal screws might make the bass sound a bit "older" in style with the passive theme, and perhaps the hollow saddles do something similar...
But: I don't know, and I couldn't find an answer quick enough, so please enlighten me, or come up with alternative theories, or maybe someone in the know will pop in and educate me:)

Och, and it's nice to be back, great to see the forum alive and well:)

cheers

I don't have any answers to those questions, Magnus, but I know this. I finally got a chance to gig this Caprice. We both know it's one thing to sit around at home and go, "Oh, this is great!" and quite another to take the thing out into the wild with all sorts of crazy things happening - loud acoustic drums and people singing and guitars and whatnot. I did this last night. My Caprice, strung with Cobalt flats. First set, an hour or so, I wanted to be comfy and secure so I wigged out and just played the Big Al 5h, which I know inside out. Nervous about a new bass, different strings, and only 4 of those on top of all that. Can I even play a 4 banger? They jury was out.

But I had to. I took the leap.

cowPilot is kind of known for mashing things up, and we had "Secret Agent Man" interspersed with "Solitary Man" and maybe some other kind of 'man', too. Things happen. I grabbed a pick, which is not my normal thing but seems to work on those tunes. I can't begin to tell you what that tone was like, but it was awesome. Even I was stunned - "Where's all this zing coming from?" But in a good way. Edgy. Sharp. Full spectrum. This bass and those strings made me so completely happy.

Well, and plus, look at it. It's a battleship!

You need to get you one of these.

because it is a passive bass with hints of retro this is the bridge and saddles that get you the sound we were looking for so much of the muusic man sound acually comes acoustically the big bolts into the sockets and the solid largge stainless saddles...
