I put tape wounds on a Bongo 4H, yes you can do that! They sound great too! (I wouldn't recommend this if you only have one bass.)

They sound brighter than I thought, but no zing, just highs. Excellent thump and quite punchy too, the Bongo 3 band is the reason. I had a set on a Sterling for a long time and they sounded really good, but the Bongo can have fun with them! Plus they look killer on the Stealth finish.

They look cool Chuck.

What's the difference in TAPEwounds and FLATwounds? I assume they are manufacturered differently, but what's the MAIN sound difference?

That Bongo is backwards...;)

Tapewounds have a nylon or plastic coating on the entire string that fills in the small gaps in the windings. The result is less finger noise and a slight reduction in brightness.

These strings tend to be a little thicker than standard strings.

Oh yeah, I forgot you have one too. (Reissue) I ended up selling my B15R last week....yup had the coveted extension cab as well. I loved it, but it mostly just sat 99% of the time unused at all, and I needed a monster 'outdoor' rig more.
