Just looking at some of the pics of available models and came across this. Anyone know when you could buy something like this, I've never seen it before.

This one is nice too, and I've never seen it before.

There is an Axis on ebay right now that is similar to the bottom two that you have pictured. It is a solid lime green color.

BlackSpy, that last one isn't pink it Lanvender and it's a Super Sport, I think that Royal Music in NY still has one and some other colors that EBMM doesn't make anymore. The first one is a Sport there were 2 versions of the Sport some had pickguards, Jimi D can tell you more on that topic. The second one is Platinum colored Axis Super Sport you can tell because of the binding.

C_Mac, yah it's back up again, but the dude wants a lot for it.

It's a nice color.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

None of those are Super Sports. Super Sports don't have Floyd Rose trems. Plus, if you look none of those guitars have a tone knob and the pickup switch is not a blade style that is on the SS's. Basically, those guitars are some kind of regular Axis.

Chad, your right nice catch, thanx. I didn't see the Axis logo on the headstock, I was still a little foggy when I wrote that first thing this morning.

Those must have been before the Axis Super Sport model came out. Maybe before they phased out the Axis Sport.

Jon, Derek, anyone from EBMM any help here.

Thanx, Glenn |B)

I've never seen an Axis with a pickguard personally, but in the Guitar Buyer's Guide 1998-1999 Edition there is one pictured with the EBMM guitar listings. The description for the Axis from that buyer's guide reads:
Basswood body with book-matched figured maple top and cream binding. Hand-rubbed oil finish selected maple neck now available with rosewood or maple finger board, 22 frets, 10-inch radius adn five-bolt neck attachment with sculptured neck joint. Two custom-made DiMarzio humbucking pickups mount directly to the body, three-way pickup switch and volume control. Offered in six Translucent finishes or Black with cream pickguard. Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo. String-thru-body Music Man standard bridge available in Translucent Gold only. Price: $1,600-$1,750
Note the inclusion of both a hard-tail model and a rosewood fretboard as options... The Axis Sport is also included in the models listing, but the Super Sport is not...

I've seen those funky opaque finishes before, and I really like them. They're not very common, but do crop up from time to time. I think they were offered for a couple years around 2000-2002, but don't quote me on that...

I kind of like the black with the pickguard. I'm not too sure, maybe after I figure out how to get a trans-black quilt, I'll work on that one.

Hi Guys,

The Axis guitars are from the late 90's era when we were trying out some new soild colors. Pearl Lavender and Platnum were two finishes that did not sell very well.

Most folks prefer the trans finishes to see the wood grain.

From 1996 on we started offering Solid Black as an option. We thought the creme pickguard a la the sport would look good to match the binding. Turns out the sales numbers were low and we decided to take the guard off.

The Axis and Axis SS is still available in soild black.
