Okay, I know this isn't the Fender Forum, but I'm thinking that maybe a few of you Eddie fans have built your own guitars and know where to go to find the right parts. I've tried Warmoth, All Parts, WD, eBay, and just about every other manufacture I can think of and I still can't find what I want.

* Strat Style Headstock
* Birdseye Maple w/ Birdseye Maple fingerboard
* Skunk Stripe Back
* Unfinished
* Pre-routed and drilled for a Floyd Rose R2 nut

I've seen a trillion of these types of necks before!
Why am I having such a hard time?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My project is at a stand-still. :(

Not sure about the skunk stripe, but I believe these guys have everything else you require, including stellar references from the gang at the TDPRI (Telecaster Discussion Page Reissue, one of the bigger gangs of vintage Tele nuts online) - I believe their main guy Tommy is a former Warmoth employee of many, many years:

They even have an "EB" neck back contour! :) Not sure how authentic it is, but I gather it's basically an offset shape with a consistent front-to-back depth a la the Axis or AL.

I've got a project guitar that my father and I started many years ago that I believe these guys will be finishing off when my finances allow...the EB contour offering is basically what sealed the deal in my mind. I e-mailed them about this project a couple of years ago and they were totally cool about everything I was wanting to do - they are utterly customer-oriented, and their prices and options are great. Check 'em out!

Dino, I should ban you for dropping the F bomb around here. :)

In seriousness bro, and apologies to the EBMM clan for mentioning non-EBMM services on the board, if you head over to Warmoth, they offer everything in their necks section that you're looking for. Give a look: http://www.warmoth.com

F..... *shudder*...never mention that word here again, or yer outta here! :p

Apologies to all for my foul language. :eek:

I've been back and forth with Warmoth, but they don't offer any Floyd prep work on their "Total Vintage" necks (which have the skunk stripe). :(

I was told, the way those necks are made, that there wasn't enough wood to route the ledge for the Floyd nut. (cringe .. please don't ban me. They really DO call this peice a "nut") :D

Normally, I wouldn't be so (dare I say the "a" word?) ... uh, "picky" about something like this. But it looks as though I'll be spending around $250 plus, so it would be nice to get the features I want. Besides, like I've said ... I've seen necks like these a trillion times. I don't get it. :confused:

A few more supplier choices if you don't want to wait on having a neck made up and are willing to forgo some of the more customized goodies:

www.allparts.com
www.wdmusic.com
www.mightymite.com

Note:

1) All these sites don't have a lot of detailed info or pics on their neck offerings, so you'll probably need to inquire about the specifics with each. I'm not completely sure, but I think all make necks that are to " 'F-word' licensed" specs.

2) A quick glance at each didn't seem to turn up anything about Floyd nut prerouts, which I believe is something that many manufacturers would rather leave to a luthier to do to assure a customized per-instrument/hardware fit-up. My guess is you're going to have to go with a USACG or Warmoth piece to have that mod done and done right, and the former is probably the most amenible to making it happen to the specs you want because they're a smaller and newer shop and they specialize in custom per-order jobs.

3) The sites above are "factory direct"...you can likely find most of their offerings at a retail store, and probably at lower prices than their sites provide so shop around before committing to something on their sites (unless they have a rare or one-of a kind offering that wouldn't ordinarily be sold on the regular market).

Thanks guys!

I remember back in the early VH days , when everybody was building their own guitars and you could practically go into any music store and buy any neck you wanted right over the counter. :rolleyes:

Sh*t, that just means that you're getting old, and you need to be put out to pasture. :p

Then again, I remember having all of my favorite songs taped on my very own 8-track...wow, I'm probably not too far behind you there, pal... ;)

Sorry about the mislead on the Warmoth direction, pal...you never mentioned the vintage aspect, etc. -- I didn't know that they were picky about R2 routing on the vintage stuff. I knew that they have that "don't come crying to us if it's warped" type quote about unfin'ed necks, etc. but sheesh, I didn't think that would be an issue. My mistake, sir. :D

Good luck in your (continuing) search. :)
