Hi guys,

this is my first thread in this forum, I hope you can tell me anything about:
Last March I bought an excellent condition "Albert Lee signature model" body used from a friend that live in Venice (I live in Italy, don't you know?).
The problem is the neck that I already don't have, I called the Italian dealer for
MusicMan but he told me that MusicMan doesn't sell any neck if not for warranty repairs. This August a friend o' mine went to New York, at "Mandolin brothers" but
he couldn't find the neck I need.

The question is: does MusicMan (not the Italian dealer, MusicMan original USA)
sell necks for customers that need them? What can I do? I can't play a guitar without neck, is like... pizza without beer!!
Thanx to all for responses, and sorry if my language isn't perfect

As your dealer said, you can't buy Musicman necks on their own - even in the US! If a neck is damaged then you can get a replacement but you have to send in the original. I'm afraid you'll have to buy a neck from another source, but it won't be a musicman neck....

That is true. When the neck snapped on my JP6, I had to send it in with the neck attached....I personally think it was so Jon could sit back and laugh at me.....but I can't prove it!

I would talk with Customer Service about it. They will put one on I believe, but they will not send it out to you. Again, I could be wrong, but give them a call.

You can only get a neck as a direct replacement, and we need the original neck returned to us. If you do not have the original neck you are out of luck unless one pops up on ebay etc.

Ok, now I know how the situation really is :(

Do you think Warmoth would be a good alternative?
Or there are other better ways to have a neck very similar to the original (and great!) one?

thanx very much

Man, I've seen lots of stuff (including forgeries) pop up on eBay but NEVER an EBMM neck! Have you seen that before Jon?

I think it would be a huge money maker for EBMM to sell necks. Best necks I've ever played. EBMM must have a good reason for not selling them. They've been around long enough to know what works and what doesn't work in the guitar market. Hope you find the neck your looking for. :)

My only thoery as to why they would not sell necks alone is because people would put them on OLP bodies (as an example) and try to pawn it off as a real EBMM. Some people are still trying to pawn off the OLP as a real one as it is.

The necks are simply the best in the business. If you want the neck, you gotta get the whole deal. That, my friends, is worth every penny! I personally would not deal the necks alone.

ive seen a morse neck on ebay and an axis neck as well, real EBMM issued necks. the morse had an older style lsr roller nut installed aftermarket on it... really dumb hahah and the axis had a sunburst finish on the headstock. So they do pop up but very rarely.

My italian friend, call EBMM Customer service and plan on sending your albert lee in with the original neck ( if you have it) and get it replaced. Shipping will be a bitch but it will be worth it in the long run as EBMM necks do rock. if you dont have the original neck then you'll be hard pressed to find a suitable replacement.

good luck

God bless,

I bought a Silhouette neck on Ebay - it was in excellent shape, and cost me way less than a refret on that guitar would have... When I flipped the guitar, I re-sold the neck for more than I'd paid for it... I've never seen another for sale, though...

I bought it!

...but it is a "Warmoth" neck :(
It is very similar to the original and very nice, but what a price!
Neck, neck screw,Schaller tuners, clear satin paint, string nut, express ship in Italy, Italy's taxes (20%)...
TOT: about 500 Euro (500E * 1,20 = 600$ !!!!!!)

Thanx to all for your consideration, next month I will receive the neck, I'll tell you something about.

Bye
