Yeah, these beauties are exactly what I want. But I guess it's hard luck to find someone who wants to sell such a thing... Well, as soon as I have the money, I will post my wish in the WTB thread.

I really love these pearloid pickguards and the silver knobs - could I add them later on in case I find a pinkburst one that doesn't have it? Can I order that or could I only get it second hand?

Thanks in advance - an congratulations to your guitars, boys!

You certainly can ... mine above had the standard white p/g. I added the pearloid one, knobs, locking tuner, and battery box (for a Silent Circuit).

They do come up from time to time- so just keep an eye out. Usually someone will post in the Craigslist thread if they see one.

It just so happens that there's a dealer selling an orig. Pinkie on german eBay...but the price they're asking certainly is a bit steep!
Anyways...you have to treat yourself to an Albert Lee, pinkburst or not. They're all perfect.

Yes, thanks for the hint! I've been watching that offer for a while, but to me the colour appears to be slightly different from the colours of the Alberts shown in this thread. Wheras they tend to a real pink, the ebay offer guitar goes into a kind of yellow. And also, the bodies of the two guitars shown in this thread seem to reflect more, as if there was "more" finish or as if the one offered in ebay has become a bit dull.

Is that the difference of the colors or the difference of the light circumstances under which the photos were taken? Have there been different types of pink burst over the years?

I know I demand a lot of the guitar that I will finally buy, but since that is quite a sum of money, it has to be "the one"... I want to marry that guitar, so I shouldn't take the first one that crosses my way...

It's the very same colour...the orig. pinkburst tends to fade a little (the "pinkish" portion indeed turns yellow-ish), you can see a little bit of fading on Banjo's Pinkie, too. It's quite common with the orig. Pinkbursts, the fading on mine is even more apparent (see this thread for pic...: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/45710-ngd-albert-lee-times-two.html).

I haven't seen the eBay one in person but I'd assume it's the lighting in the shots that make it appear a little dull. The seller claims it to be in decent condition so it should be just as shiny as the ones you've seen in this thread.

I can perfectly understand you...who knows, you might be able to find a real "case queen" someday, but there won't be a bucketload of them popping up and given their age I guess you'll have to live with a blemish or two if you really want to get your hands on an original Pinkburst. They're absolutely fantastic and light as a feather but on the othe hand every Albert Lee I got my hands on was/is just as fantastic and as a bonus you get the locking tuners and silent circuit if you decide on a newer one.

The locking tuners and a silent circuit in the newer ones are really a nice add on. As alternative colours that can also be ordered with the new models I really like that trans red and the pacific blue burst. Still I would love to see one in natural before I buy one. However that will be difficult here...

I have heard it so often now that the older models of the Albert Lee are so light. Is that also true for the newer ones? What do you guys guess is the difference in weight comparing a newer and an older model? Lighter than a Strat?

Cheers!

Edit: I just saw that it's possible to order the Albert Lee via amazon.com. Unfortunately they don't have the SSS with hardtail... So where could I get it instead?

You can see the fading (original pink under the pickguard) in the following picture, but of course in natural it´s always a bit different than in a photo. Especially as this is a flash-picture and not with natural light

Where are you from?

I finally just ordered my new Albert Lee SSS hardtail in trans red and with a white pearloid pickguard.

I can't wait to have it! They say it will be finishes in May!

That's so great!! :)

- I ordered it via Daves Guitar Shop. Tim, who ordered with me, was very helpful and nice!

I could live with waiting for it until may, but since I will go to the US in August to pick it up then, it will be a real challenge... ;)
