I am thinking about investing in a Stingray 5, but in New Zealand they cost about $5000 NZD which is about $3100 USD and that is a bit of a strain. I was looking into options of buying one in the US and getting it shipped out to NZ as it looks as if you can buy them there for about $1500 USD but the the site I went to only ships within the US. Does anyone know of a good way to get this bass at a less exhorbitant price?

eBay. They can be had all day for around $800 in excellent condition. Even if you pay $400 in shipping and say $300 for import duties, you'll do much better than buying in NZ.
Just do some homework about freight and customs, and find a good, reputable seller at eBay.
Also read the stickies in this forum about eBay/Craiglist finds, and for-sale member listings as well.

buying new from the US and shipping to NZ will void the warranty and get the dealer in hot water.
Best option might be buying used.

EB has a policy that US dealers can't ship overseas, like someone said Ebay or maybe here a lot of people sell there basses and if they are willing to send OS you could be in luck

Yep, you are. List price on mine here in Belgium was 3241 USD. The board forbids me to give the streetprice, but you can bet it's a lot higher than in the US. That's customs and shipping costs for you...
