I have a friend with a badly (looks like light mud) faded EVH that loves the look of my NOS unfaded purples. He'd like to get his refinned to it's original color.

Would anyone recommend a company to perform this work? I know EBMM doesn't do this any longer, but he's looking for EBMM quality work.

FYI - GMW isn't an option since they stopped doing refin work. Thanks.

An original EVH, even with faded color, is more valuable than a refinned one. Lots of guys refinned their 60' Strat during the seventies. Bad move.

Just my 2 cents (or 0.013676 €)

I'd say leave it alone. These will be worth more if left alone. I love my fader...it's a one-off and looks tie-die. Not all of them can have AAAAA tops or they'd all look the same! It also catches the light differently and never looks the same twice.

My fader...bless her cotton socks!

I'm thinking that if anyone knows the value of an EVH it's Brett, and that re-sale value is probably not an issue for this one... just a hunch. ;)

Bret don't do it. The faded ones look great - nice and reliced.
If you were in the UK I have just the man - but your not are you.

Tell him to leave well alone.

Personally I think its his guitar and he should do whatever he wants with it... There is a forum member that had a Axis refinished to imitate that bluish aqua color I'll see if I can find his name and maybe you could PM him. It turned out really good too.

Brett, are you able to post a picture of your friend's faded EVH? We'd probably all be interested to see it.

It kind of looks like this, minus the rich purple color.:D

He wants a dark purple EVH like my NOS purples, and I don't think the value is a concern to him honestly. I told him to just buy a different one, but he wants to go this route. I'll keep looking for a good place to have him send it. If anyone has any experience with a shop in the USA, please let me know. PM me if you need to (especially if you had a bad experience with a shop - lol - I don't want to send him somewhere he'll get bad work).

Brett I never tire of looking at your collection. Which one is your fav out of all of the ones you own?

Tobin

This one will probably always be my favorite because it was my first. It wasn't even mine actually. I had a friend that wanted an EVH EBMM badly so I contacted all my my Jackson guitar sources and one of them turned this guitar up. My friend paid for it and had it delivered to my place and asked me to set it up for him. I set it up in 5 minutes (most Jackson custom shop guitars I had took hours to set up correctly) and when I played it I knew I had found something special. I talked him out of taking it from me and slowly started to build my current collection.
