Hello,
Those of you who have replaced the tuners on your EB's, where did you find the 4 x 2 configuration? All I can seem to find are 3x3 or 6 in line setups. Thanks.

Why would you want to replace the tuners?? Just curious.

I would think if you were going to replace the tuners that you need to by them separately instead of in a block.

Thanx, Glenn |B)

Umm, cause mine is an OLP. :( The tuners that came on it aren't horrible, but I'd like to get some locking tuners instead.

BRSmith21, you didn't say you had an OLP, so that's why I asked the question.

Good luck with the upgrade let me know how it goes I have a friend who's kids has the OLP JP and that was like the first upgrade that I recommended.

I got mine from Warmoth. Upgraded to the locking tuners from the old non-locking kind.

I looked around and Warmoth had a great price. Shipped, and with currency conversion, it was less then buying them from my local stores. Sheesh.

Thanks for the help guys. I ordered some from Warmoth today and they should be here next week. This is my first MM style guitar (MM5) and so far I'm digging it. I've always been a Strat and Les Paul guy. Eventually I may step up to the plate and get a real MM. :D

oddly enough i think ebmm customer service will sell u tuners.......

Tommy, you are exactly right. Tuners are not proprietary and we will sell them outright. However, it is important to note that one of the screw holes will not match up and will likely have to be re-drilled. You may not want to try this at home, folks...

&.......if ya do just gotta try this at home.........( which i don't recommend either).....& if your holes are a little too small .........don't use a drill......use a hand reamer.

if ya don't know what yer doin...a drill may split the headstock.

a hand reamer is ALOT safer.....

Good to know about the holes not lining up. Mine haven't come in yet (they've made it from WA to MN at this point according to UPS), but I ordered the schaller mini locking tuners. Anyone know offhand if I'll have to do any reaming?

Done Upgrading

I know that this is OT, but I thought I'd share the pix after upgrading my OLP MM5. I now have officially spent more on the upgrades that I did on the guitar, but it does play and sound great. For anyone who wants to upgrade the tuners on their OLP, the mini-schaller locking tuners fit without modification for the main hole or the screw hole.:)

And here's one with the EMG's and Graph-Tech saddles:

Thanks for indulging me and also thanks for all your help in pointing me in the right direction on the tuners.:D

Hey how cool is that - good job.
I'll have to let my mate Olplayer know about this.
Thanks for the photos and the info on the tuners.

Dan-
Do you happen to know if the locking tuners w/ the knob on the back will fit on a SUB1 without any sort of drilling, reaming, etc.?

They will fit, but require a hole to be drilled for the rear mounting screw.

brsmith21, how would you describe the neck profile on the MM5? im hoping its on the thinner side, cause my JP's neck is wonderful and i was hoping its close to that.

It feels pretty thin to me. I haven't played a JP, but it is similar to a Silo in thickness, only wider. Hope this helps. It really is a pretty decent guitar for what it costs, even without all my upgrades:eek: .
