Hi guys,
Im downsizing my rig to a 12" combo to 60 Watts. Im thinking of getting either Fender Rumble 60 or SWR LA-15. What combo do you guys recommend out of those 2?

If you guys interested, im selling my Ampeg BA-115, still in an excellent condition, never been gigged, just for my practise amp at home and still has a tag on it. Original Box, manual and receipt is included.

check out the

Ampeg BA series.

There is a BA 110 (50 watts I think), BA 112 (80) and BA 115 (100)

I have the BA 115 and absoultely love it. Fantastic.

The SWR stuff did not sound nearly as good to me-- particularly the LA series. Did not even come close to the ampeg stuff.

it is more expensive but as they say... you get what you pay for.

Between the Fender or the SWR, I'd go with the Fender... but as far as any brand, personally I think Peavey gives the best bang for the buck...

Don't know if they make it in a 12" but the 15'' Fender Bassman is awesome.
I have a 100watt and it will shake the roof.great tone also.

For a really good sound at about $275, Laney makes a 65 watt 12" combo that rocks. Model is HCM65B

I agree with Basspastor. The Fender Bassman is the way to go. It has a bit more power then you are looking for but it has tone to burn.

The SWR LA series is the knockoff of its knockoff series. In other words you have their Pro line, then the WorkingMan line which is the cheaper version of the Pro line and then the LA series which is the cheaper version of the WM line. They sound really thin and just don't have the tone options.

The Rumble isn't bad but the tone on the Bassman is so much nicer and the extra headroom is worth it. The Ampeg BA series is another good option (I kinda like thew 115 better then the 112 - more bass).

You are right!!!! I totally forgot about that one :)
THe Laney is also great for the cash - just wish it had a bit more headroom.

Hmmm, I have an older Ampeg B-50R which I sometimes use for around the house, and I love it. It's a great "living room" amp.

Do the BA series sound different than the B series? I ask because mine sounds like an Ampeg, which in my world means "good".

It's mostly not being used anymore, though....I brought my pawn shop Peavey cabinet (1-15) home from the stinky biker bar and paired it up with a Peavey Session Bass head....not too big, not too expensive (I think I paid $350 for the cab and head together) and sounds absolutely fabulous.

Peavey! Who knew?

Anyhoo, I vote for the Ampeg B series. The B-100R sounds even better than my B-50R, if you can still get them. Anyone know?

I went to Guitar Center this morning, Fender Rumble 60 is much better for my taste it has more low, more headroom. SWR LA-12 has a brighter tone, less low, good for slapping though as it has the tweeter on it.

Thanks guys for the help

did you get the bassman or the rumble?

I had my love at first sound with a musicman/ fenderbassman combo.

It was a 100 watt bassman combo. Really sounded great, I thought. I wondered if Leo used fender amps when desigining the stingray and thus they are sortof meant to go together? Just something I thought about...

Are you happy with your purchase?

The Fender Rumble is great. It does have low to spare.I tried one but in a smaller wattage than I wanted.
The Bassman was setting next to it so I brought it home.
