Question Which bass case, does it matter? 5981 or 4980

Hello all!

I'm having a bit of a nightmare. I have an old Musicman Sterling bass not the Ray 54 but a proper one (if that's ok to say). It came with a case but after years of gigging this broke.

For my Birthday my girlfriend has ordered me the Stingray 4980 case and I just wanted to know if there is anything physically different about it compared to the 5981 Sterling case and will it fit!? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

It's not the end of the world if it is incorrect but i'll have to send the case back.

The Stingray case is larger. It may work, but more likely your Sterling will be swimming in it.

I have both........the Sterling does move about in the SR case,yet.....you can get the SR in the Sterling case......very tight.

Thanks for your help guys, you're right the sterling does move around in the SR case. I've got another one on order all the way from America!
