Still humming happily along. I've got three Bongos but only one Big Al, and more people are getting sucked in to the vortex every day.

The active/passive thing is only part of the reason I'm gigging Mr. Albert. The other half is that its looks totally match the vibe of the band.

I mean, seriously. How can you argue with this? Genuine '70s suit, wide tie, pointy shoes, the whole thing.

They say imitation is the best form of flattery. So Mr Douglas, I hope you will be flattered when I post pictures from the gig, because I basically stole your look for gigs. I have a collection of fedoras and other hats now.

I'm a Bongoloid, so I would take the Bongo. I'm much more of a plug and play type player and although the Bongo has active EQ it sounds great and it super easy to tweak in a live setting. I'm sure the Big Al isn't bad once you get used to it, but a Bongo will sound good on any track.

I would really like to have a Big Al if I were recording though.

Accessorising and matching are essential in some situations some people take it to ridiculous lengths DSC_0084.jpg DSC_1875.jpg

The matching being we're all old farts who wear spectacles (perhaps we should have pink tinted ones!) ;)

BTW A Douglas - your stage outfit is so cool, and so is the bass.

WAAAY to matchy-matchy IMHO. Orange guitars are very cool, but they're way cooler when only one guy has one.

Agreed - I love the orange bass AD.

It's a tribute act and that's what the original did (though the bass players used Burns and Fender P cos the Stingray wasn't invented in 1960!) - singer has a pink jacket as well - these were some excess shots from a photo shoot in a studio. I'm taking the Bongo to the next rehearsal for a laugh but I know the first question I'll be asked...........you're not gonna use that in a gig are you? Largely because of the colour of the bass!
