As with all things guitar related, this question is very subjective. That being said I vote for #2 Rosewood Board on a Maple Neck. For me it just feels & sounds the best. EBMM guitars have helped me to uncover the Rosewood lover in me. Eventually, all of my Maple Fingerboarded guitars will need to be sold. There is something ever slightly too bright and almost fragile about the combination of Maple boards and single coils that doesn't appeal to me anymore. Good luck with the decision. Any way you look at it, the ASS kicks much.
Good point. Out of the three listed, #2 is the one I haven't heard MM90s on. So it could be the best. I love my MM90s on both #1 & #3 options for sure.
I really dig the look of the all rosewood with those cream colored MM P90s.
Bazaboy, I too had become a convert to rosewood boards, but I found a whole new pallet of tone by monkeying with the amp settings while playing the maple board. Now, I have no preference. They each just do a different things better. For me, they're the ideal pair.
Thanks for all the input. At first, I have to admit, I think the all rosewood Axis is kind of ugly. The top just looked like cheap coffee table. But after look at it long enough, I thinks it's kinda cool guitar.
