the Silhouette?
I've been fortunate enough to try all the EBMM guitar line except the Luke and the Silo.
I am leaning towards the purchase of the Silo, but haven't been able to try one yet. There was one at the local shop before Christmas but was gone before I got to try it out.
Today I went out of town on business, and naturally called and stopped by the EBMM dealers along the way. But nobody had a Silo!

So far I'd say I like the JPs neck the best.
I was disappointed with the Axis. Great guitar! But the neck wasn't for me.

So what would be the closest to the Silo?

fogman,

The Silo/Silo Special neck is closer to the Axis than the JP - they are the same narrower nut width as the Axis. Also, the Silo/Silo Special necks are a true "C" shape while the Axis is asymetrical. I also think the Silo neck is a bit slimmer than the Axis/Albert Lee neck, but thicker than the JP neck.

Actually I would say the SUB1 is the closest thing to a Silo...but that's my opinion

All measurements aside, I personally think the feel of a Silhouette neck is right between the Axis and the JP - and it's very, very much like the Steve Morse neck, if you've played one of those...

heck, I'll have to look at the specs again, I thought the axis neck had the same specs as the silo? I thought they were the same...

I did play a Morse also.
I didn't get to play them for very long. I was on my way to a business meeting.

I basically walked into the store pointed to the Axis, Morse and Pet over the counter and said gimme those to try the necks. I played each unplugged for a couple of minutes and left.

I will absolutely be trying each one again.
I think they may have messed with the setup with the Axis and Morse. They string height was quite high in my opinion. I expected the action to be a lot lower.
I especially think this was a possibility on the Axis since they told me I might be able to get it cheaper as it was in the store for quite a while. The boss wanted to get rid of it. It was Egyptian Smoke with MM90s.

More investigating to come. The one store I went to said they usually get a few EBMMs per month and they fly out of there. Being that this store is in the greater Toronto area, I believe it!

As always, thanks for the help from everyone. Soon enough I will officially be part of the EBMM family!!!! :D

width at the nut is 1-5/8" on both...........but the silo is 1/16" wider .... (2-1/4") ....at the last fret....but more importantly....the axis has a different contour shape (i think ) .....the evh contour ?????
