First one is a forum members. No question in my mind what so ever.
Definitely Phil's

I thought the first one looked more interesting but the second looked a little special. Now that I'm really imagining either of them on my wall I'd choose the first one too.

If I had 3000 dollars I'd buy it now, but I don't

If it's still up I'd buy it though

The first is the prettier top and is owned, as we have established, by a Forumite... and prob the best deal you'll find on a Koa

The second is Grand Central Music in Deluth, MN and is an EBMM dealer. I know I worked with him in the past on a guitar and he was pretty good to me. I would say call him outside of Ebay and you may get a much better deal from him.... at least that was my experience.

Let us know what you decide and don't forget the pics when you get it.

I have to admit that -price and forumite soldidarity aside- the second one is more appealing to me...just because the top of Phil's JP looks more like something you probably could find in a maple top as well whereas the second one looks more special...and a little more typically "Koa" to me.

I like the "wild" flaming of the first one very much, though you might get that in a maple top as well. But what about that color? Does it look so "yellowish" in reality?

I like the second one for the color, though.

Mine looks like the 2nd one color-wise. It looks yellowish because the flash of my camera washes everything out. I have some better pics that show the true color that I'll be posting since I'll probably have to relist the guitar again.

For me, the 1st one. Amazing, amazing top. Though #2 indeed looks a little more "traditional" koa. Have been GASing for a koa more and more the last few weeks. Stunning wood to look at. No idea how it sounds though, never had the pleasure to play one.
