Just ordered a set of coated EB Super Slinky and EB Group IV Flats. I am currently loving my SR4 with EB Group III Flats on them. I use Super Slinkys on my other basses. May try the flats on Bongo. I had them on my Fretless Bongo but went back to the Super Slinky set. Each bass has its own personality and so some may require different strings.
It all depends on what sound/tone(s) you, are looking for. I just tried some half-wounds and put back the flats which feel and sound, to me, so much better. Thus the EB order.

Jack, you've been known to throw a real zinger out there every once in awhile.
when i started out i hated new strings with a passion, but tried them recently and liked them a lot. funny enough when i put the roundwounds back on the ray today they still retained that zingyness but felt LOADS different than when they were when i first bought them 2 years ago or more, kinda grody feeling. but oddly the zing didnt make it through the amp, possibly cause i always cut the trebble but it seemed to be managable zing. but after a good two years i really dug their sound

+1 Flats. EBMM flats in particluar +1zillion.
IMHO roundwounds tend to pick up and retain more finger dirt; they also simply wear out faster. String noise is a more of a problem, particularly if you keep your action really low and do lots of finger funk (as I do). Of all the flats I've tried (and the only ones I haven't are Ken Smith Compressors), the EBMMs have the shortest "break in period" and maintain their tone most consistently over time. Don't tell BP, but you never have to replace them, they're too good.

I really like having a fresh set of rounds and flats on my Stingray 5's. So I keep a set of 2836's rounds on one and a set of 2810 flats on the other.
Old strings dead strings are a serious turn off IMO.

They are very good strings, no question about that, but I wouldn't say they have the shortest break in period of all flats on the market. I find they take a week or two to settle down, which isn't a problem at all, but I believe the flat brand that Sir Paul McCartney used on his Hofners are the flat that requires no break in period at all. I have a set on my SG RI. That said, on EBMM basses I do really like the strings that come in the EB Flats packaging, and have them on 3 of my EBMMs.

When they do not intonate properly anymore due to wear from the frets and the string's mass not being spread equally anymore.
Or when they start to sound too warm

on another note to flats ever age in the similar way that rounds do, becoming boomier over time? even more so than they already are?
