I would like to get an idea of which brands and gauges of strings everyone favors on their 30th ann SR and most importantly, why?
Thanks,

I have DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams on mine. Love the tone...but I was a DR player before I put them on the 30th AV. I also should say that I put the strings on at the store when I purchased the bass and have only had them on there for a month. Haven't had time to try other brands on there.

What gauge MMFB's did you use and if it was 45-105 did you need to adjust the nut slot?
Thanks
I have Stainless Steel Super Slinkys on my 30th right now and it sounds great.Punchy as heck and bright but not too bright......Much respect and thanks to Jodi for recommending these at NAMM
Yeah, I was just looking at these online tonight; I'm going to give them a try. I like stainless - been using DR MMFB's for a while, but since EB has a stainless set, I'll try those. The DR's are considerably more expensive, and I'm betting the EB Stainless Supers sound great.

i like the hybrid slinkys..
they got: the right amount of ooomfh, they dont get like glue if you sweat on your hands, they last for a long time (zing wise) and i like the added tension on the e and a string. last but not the least: they support our fav instrument maker

ps: i like the roundwounds on the fretless as well. it really makes the bass sing while it got some zing as well![]()
Roundwounds on a fretless. I guess this what Jaco used on his. Do you think the rounds will tear up the Pau Fauro fretboard on my SR4 fretless? I might change them out.
