White Luke used~priced high at GC??

Stopped at GC in San Jose today,
they have a very nice used White Luke,
then right next to it they have a new black one priced at $50 more...?

So I inquired if I can play it,
and immediately noticed it did not have a compensated nut..

So I preceeded to ask the sales guy,
why is this used, older Luke priced only $50 less then a brand new one..?

He quickly responds that white, being a discontinued Luke color, is the reason...

Does that make any sense to you....?
Is this logic correct when pricing a used Luke

But in any case the right price is what you are willing to pay to get it

if someone is looking for a white Luke and is willing to pay that price why not ? personnally for 50 buck more I would go for the new one

Any way you slice it, the LUKE is easily, one of the best, if not the best, "bangs for your buck" there is. It's an absolute steal. The playability and versatility is exceptional. The neck dimensions and shape make it a great neck for both small and larger hands.

I love mine.

I ran retail for a long time, and GC coming to town put me out of a job, so forgive me if I'm a bit jaded.

There's always a surplus of GC bashing to be found but let me tell you something: I'd have LOVED to have GC back in 1978 when I first picked up the guitar. Back then, if I wanted to see nice gear, I had to hop the subway into NYC. Now, there are several in my town. That can't be a bad thing.

Good point Cud....out here in Va. Beach...we did not have a GC for a while and to go to some of the shops around here...you damn near had to make an appointment just to hold the guitar/bass you were interested in. The sales guy was like a parrot on your shoulder to the point he was stalking you. When GC came here....I can only vouche for this store....they hired in knowledgeable people for each section and let you try out the gear without hovering around you. I am always greeted by the front door check out lady with a smile and if the "drum sales guy" asks if you need anything and it is guitar/bass related....he will go get the guitar/bass sales person. My local GC is great....been going there ever since. But, I do not buy the guitars/basses as they do get played on by people who don't respect the gear. But all my amps, pedals, cords, straps and what not...I get there.

amazing how an all white guitar can be so striking...

Hey, I went to the Greg Koch clinc last night at Guitar Showcase...
I was hoping I would run into somebody like you Big Mike..

Gerg Koch is 6'7' inches tall.... his hands can easily fit around a basketball..

FWIW: if you go to the San Jose GC try and talk to a guy named AJ. AJ's helped me out there a lot and is always super nice and awesome to deal with. he's even called me a few days after purchases to make sure im still happy.

i havent been to the SJ GC for a lil while so i dunno if AJ still works there, but if he does then its definately worth dealing with him.

FYI:
Guitar Center always prices their used gear too high, but IME there is usually considerable negotiation room on used gear. I once bought a used Stingray at 20% off what was on the price tag. Didn't even have to haggle that hard either.
