Hej and hello to everyone here.
Im new in this Forum and thats not without a reason, because I need some help.
Some years ago I have buied a SR5 and i can not find a serial number not on the headstock not on the bridge not on the neckplate. But they are all no replacement parts!!! The bridge and the neckplate have no Musicman label but they are no more screw holes under these (original???)bridge.
I have looked for the neck and body date. The neck is built on sep 30 1987 and the body is sep 17 1987 its all rubber ink market. I did not know wich wood builds the body but the neck is birdseye maple and a rosewood fretboard.
Can anyone bring some light into the darkness? I have contact the eb-mm team but they can not help me.
Is it a Custom made? and wich wood the body is? And whats the price there for?
Sorry for my bad "german" english.
Best regards
Sven from Frankfurt

The bridge and the pickup are NOT Musicman.
Could be other non original items but those two
jump out at me right away.

It's likely that the previous bridge bore the s/n.
Also the control knobs appear to be flat topped.
EBMM uses dome topped knobs.

Did the first SR5's leave the factory this way?
Never saw a SR5 with the old logo (the V instead 5).
I know the first ones came out in 1987.
I once saw a polish film from 1987 - the bass player with a blueburst rosewood SR5 - but I can't remember the films name nor I remembered the logo.
More pics please.

strange that the musicman logo is neither on the bridge or on the neck plate...
the rest of the bass looks legit too me, date stamp in the neck pocket looks ok.
not sure about the headstock logo, isn't the word "musicman" supposed to be gold, not trans?
mayebe someone replaced the hardware because it got worn, who will tell.

Something just doesnt look right to me. Or it is a super rare and verry early bridge design for the sr5. Or it is an aftermarket, non original bridge... also the body does not have the 2 mounting points for the 2 large bridge bolts normaly used on mm bridges. So chances are the body isnt musicman eighter.
But ill let the musicman experts gudge that one. My knowledge on the earlier models is too limited to make a definitive judgement

The Body isn't a musicman?
Thats sounds bad...
But i think ist an original because of the date marking and the wood nuts made of.metal for the baterie Cover plate

I said theres a chance its not a mm body... i am not sure.
Bridge and pickup do not look like annything musicman ever made... so 90%chance that is not real. But if there arent anny holes in the body from the original bridge that makes me suspect its not real. On the other hand, batery cover, date stamp, all do look like it should. Of course taking into acount that the neck plate isnt original eighter. My best guess is that this is a pretty well done copy. Or it must be some kind of r&d prototype bass. But chances for that are slim. I hope for you that i'm wrong but it doesnt look good in my opinion.

Do you have pictures of the back of the headstock? Tuners? If this is a fake it is done verry well (except bridge and pickup) not many fakes have birdseye necks.

Oh didnt know that. Thx for that piece of info! Guess that bridge and especially the missing bridgemounts in the body are the big mistery here....

Agreed, those are mysterious. The finish, however, looks right from what I can tell. More info needed!
