I was thinking about this yesturday while listening to some Tony Macalpine.
Who do you (from these two guys) like better and WHY??? Also which album from the two do you like best?
Tony Macalpine OR Vinnie Moore
I persnoally love both of these guys music and playing out of this typa similar genre. However of course the have their differences in style, composition, phrasing and so on. I personlly grew to like Vinnie Moore a bit more than Macalpine due to his very lyrical playing and his technique. For some reason after listening to Macalpine I do not remember his melodies. Dont take me wrong here, he is an AMAZING musician also playing piano greatly, this is just an personal opinion. I guess HIS compositions are very intricate with a LOT of stuff going on. But Vinnie has I guess more of a simple aproach, but than it is so full of life and great melodies that you can also hear in the solos. Just great song writing.
I dont have all of either of their albums, but these are the ones I like best from what I have:
Vinnie Moore: Meltdown AND Maze
Tony Macalpine: Premonition
