I hope I'm not starting to be a PIA but I think I need some serious work on my bass. who can I send it to that really knows stingrays? can I send it to Ernie Ball?

I took the knob plate off today and looked at the wires and compared them to my 99 SR4 and basicly the basslines pickup is passive cause the battery wires are cut and just hanging in the cavity, and the wires don't match up and of course the EQ don't work (but its there and dated 1992!

I have a friend that is a guitar tech by trade and he is also a EB dealer but he's so busy and by himself and I feel I may need someone who specializes in Music mans and knows what goes where.

I don't care how but I need to get an original Pickup and have everything wired back up right (also notice the plug jack is a cheapo aftermarket POS and it doesn't hold the plug hard enough)

anyway I love this bass and don't to get rid of it I just need it fixed right--> there must be a way..

I am the ONLY authorized MM repair tech in the world....How's that for pressure? Anyway, You can send the bass to us/me for repair, but I don't think we can sell you a new p/up. We only sell them as a direct replacement, and we need the old p/up returned to us. I think the Basslines p/up will work with our preamp so we can work with that.

If you want to send it in, call customer service at 1 866 823-2255 for a return authorization number. if you hurry you can do it today. They will be there until 5 Pacific time.

I just got off the phone with a Brian from Ernie Ball (I called before you posted this new number) but are you from EB also? anyway he said they couldn't be sure about wiring the Bassline pickup and for me to hold off on sending the bass until I find an original MM pickup?

he is e-mailing me a wiring diagram for now though..

You will be in the best care with Jon. I know. He fixed my badly broken neck on my JP6. I just got it back the other day, and I swear the hands of God touched it. This is by far the best playing JP I own.

Jon, give me a few weeks try to find a MM pickup because I really want this sounding right.. I will then set something up and mail you my bass.. thanks for helping me out at least I know theres hope I just have to find that pickup..

so does anyone have one or know of anyone who has one forsale even if its cooked?

Price does not matter and you can have the basslines too, theres a nice finders fee for the person who locates me one!

how do I tell an authentic MM pickup from say an OLP bass pickup which copys Music man??? and curious what should I expect to pay? (found Lane Poors for $200 each)

This is an interesting deal. Our repair department is really intended for warranty related issues. A bass like this one where somebody had butchered the electronics is really not what most companies would fix. However....we will always try to take care of the end user in a fair and timely manner. Since Jon has offered then we will fix it but our factory would not normally reinstall our preamp for someone elses pickup. If I had gotten the call I would have told you to see if Seymour Duncan can make thier product work in our bass, or I would have offered to fix the bass if you returned it with a real deal eb mm slo made pickup.
