I own both. Sorry you have to choose. Knowing what kind of music you do primarily would help. MAYBE

Actually, myths Maj runs on three AA's. I have not noticed a difference but it's not something I would necessarily focus on either. What is interesting, and this is PURE SPECULATION. Three AA's would equal about 4.5 volts, one half the voltage of the other battery. Makes for some interesting postulation on what is going on with the power requirement.

That's exactly where I was coming from; the electronics are seemingly the same, right? Except one works with 9V, and the other with 4.5V...I agree, makes you wonder!

Well I technically own both lol? I had my JP15 for a week and am waiting on a replacement now. They sound very similar and in a blindfold test you might not tell them apart. Find a store to try them out because you might like one over the other. This is a win/win for you regardless.

Well, the overall music taste is metal BUT this guitar is going to be used a lot in my cover band and we do many styles, from old Zeppelin - AC/DC to Lenny Kravitz so it really should be as versatile as possible.
I own a JP6, the guitar is great but it wasn’t so good for the old stuff (Zeppelin, Deep Purple, old AC/DC etc.).

I would be happy to test them both before I buy but the local dealer has only the Meg' in stock and the 15 is selling ONLY by preorder so...
If it was the look ONLY than its the 15 by far!

Thanks.

I"m in a similar position, although I have owned the Majesty and am now in the process of nabbing an Artisian. If you want the most versatile instrument sonically money can buy, both these guitars are it . . . With everything under the hood, I certainly think it's a 'feel' issue here on out. The way the Maj contours to the body really helped make my decision easier, although I was comparing it to a BFR Koa, which is also an AMAZING guitar. Honestly, I'd be blessed to own them both, but at the time the Maj just felt a little bit more comfy for me. And tonally, those two are a bit different.

Between the JP15 and the Maj overall, I think the sounds will be similar, but your finger response on the different necks and tone woods would be your judgement call. At the end of the day, for your stylistic needs I think both guitars will be able to pull it off. . . But yes, on aesthetics, the JP15 is a stunner!

I'm a fairly new MM owner, although I have been lurking for quite some time. Started off with a white majesty a couple of months ago, and several week later ordered a JP15, so I owned both at the same time for about 2-weeks, because I couldn’t decide.

I've been playing Ibanez for more than 20-years and own a couple of dozen of the older Japanese models as well as some of the Prestige series. None of that Korean stuff. This is my first MM guitar, so it's somewhat of a departure for me as far as trem, electronics, etc. and that was the intent of looking at MM in the first place.

I was initially after the Artisan but they are really hard to come by, so I settled on the White Majesty, until I saw the JP15, so I ordered it to try out and ended up sending the Majesty back for various reasons, none which were deal breakers. Both are awesome guitars...and I mean awesome. I just really liked the 15.

The Majesty felt more like an Ibanez Saber to be me, with the tilted headstock, body shape, etc. Very light guitar. If I had a choice of one to gig with, it would be the Majesty, very light, comfortable, and easy to play the 15 is obviously heavier and not as contoured.

The game changer switching on it, I think, made me hesitate a little on returning it. I still have not figured out if the JP15 has it, I don’t think it does. But the switching on the Majesty was really nice. Aesthetically, the biggest turn off on the Majesty were the mirrored inlays in conjunction with the ebony board. Something about it never looked right to me, and I didn’t really care for the painted neck all that much either. But the access to upper frets though...they only way to get better access was to chop off the rest of the body...amazing! The case is really nice though, much heavier duty than what came with the JP15.

However, when I unpacked the 15, I lost my breath for a few seconds. Unbelievably beautiful guitar. The matt finish on the body and the roasted maple neck...are awesome. Never have really seen or played such a nice looking instrument that didn’t cost 10+ grand. Tone wise, the 15 sounds a bit better balanced to me, with the mahogany body, maple top, and the sustain is better as well. It's bright enough when it needs to be and has that nice long sustain for days that my older Ibanez mahogany body guitars like the S540LTD and RG520 have, but with much better tone, that cleans up really nice. My biggest complaint about any of the JP line is I wish the coil tap worked for all positions, not just the middle. As far the different batteries/voltage Tonewise, I heard no discernable difference when the boost was engaged between the two guitars.

Had I not seen the 15, I think I would have been perfectly happy with the Majesty, but I must admit, I'm not sure I would look at that guitar 15-years from now and not feel a little silly playing it. I think I would like the Artisan better, than the regular Majesty, so I'm still shopping around for one, unless future models end up with the full gamechanger in them. Want that!

Honestly though you cant go wrong with either.
