I was trying to take advantage of an online offer for 75 dollars off certain brands and had one saved on the pc. Today it's 50 dollars off. I'm all for a good deal and all that, but I called them to ask if I could still get the deal (blah, blah) and I got laughed at on the phone. Missing a deal and being treated like crap on the phone.... I'd like to find out why.
I heard music123 was owned by GC, but I don't know.

The deal was spend 250 or more on certain brands and get 75 dollars off with free shipping. The item I had saved (wanted) qualified. All I asked was can I still get the deal. I can afford the extra money-I wanted to take advantage of the deal-but being treated like a second class citizen irked me.

Snooze you lose. I just don't think it's good business to rub it in someones face. I'll spend more money on the same item elswhere.

Rant off.

I am nearly positive that music123, Guitar Center, Giardinelli. and Musician's Friend have the same parent company.

Find the mailing address for music123's customer service department. Google it. Get an actual name if you can. Then write a short, to-the-point letter explaining what happened and why you're not planning to shop there anymore.

That will get more action than the EBMM Forum.

(Although we ARE very, very powerful!)

Someone is going to want to know about it and will want to make it right.

I've bought a number of things from Sweetwater, and every time I talk to my sales rep there (Joe Gilder), I tell him they should carry Music Man basses.

A music store that doesn't carry Music Man is like a tire store trying to sell bias plies to a Porsche owner.

Music123 is NOT associated w/ Musicians Friend as far as I know. Their main office is here in NJ & they used to be called Zapf's Music.

It was a year or so ago, but MF did buy music123.

Same inventory, same clearance items, same prices.

I like Sweetwater but I think their customer service can be a bit excessive. I don't need the guy to call me to tell me that they have the $25 item I ordered in stock and they will ship it today after I already ordered it online. Just ship it and leave me alone. I know they are taking a different approach and that is admirable but the phone calls are annoying to me. A notification of shipment e-mail would be just fine for me (I supposed some people like the phone calls though). I have heard that some people have issues with MF and GC but most of my experiences with them have been fine, especially on returns. AMS has banned me from returning anything ever again so they have lost my business.

Their are 2 big players in the music catalog business:

1. Musician's Friend, Music123, Guitar Center, Girandelli

2. American Musical Supply (AMS), Same Day Music, ZZ Sounds and maybe some others.

I can see where you are coming from, but you would be surprised how many times a customer will order something online, input the wrong billing address and only realize that after we call to confirm the shipping/billing address and to thank them for their order. If we delivered a $25.00 package to the "wrong" address, that might not be a big deal to you, but you might change your tune if the order was $3500.00 and you needed it that day for an important session. :p:D

I can see where your coming from too. I understand and I know Sweetwater has a high committment level to their customers and that is becoming more rare in this day and age.

Sorry guys, Its almost a month old (my original post). Jack, I did recieve an e-mail back. It wasn't what I thought it should be. I did get a hold of the powers that be. Pretty much... grin and bear it. That's cool, too. They have a business to run. I shouldn't have expressed feelings here, I was venting at the time. The internet is very small when it comes down to $ signs.

Anyway, What irked me was being laughed at on the phone for missing a deal. My bad, I asked if I could still get it.... Answer: higher price. Right now, I don't think the guy knew there was an Internet sale going on. It hasn't bothered me enough to NOT buy things elsewhwere. Andrew, I've got your extension # at Sweetwater.

The thing is, this place is cool, with a cool owner and a cool mod. Things are tight right now... but I'd rather pay where you're treated right. EBMM does not charge me for coming here.

Sorry for venting again. I will give another mail order a chance.

DeWayne

P. S. I wanted a peterson rack tuner.
