who plays progressive?

I was just wondering, who plays progressive metal (dream theater, symphony x, sonata arctica,... that kind of music) with an EB instrument? I just saw an add for a second hand sterling (blue dawn ), but it has a maple fretboard, and somehow it never works out when I play basses with maple fretboards (although I have never played an EB mm with maple fretboard). I'm just wondering if it will get my the nice progresive tone I'm after

I have using EB SR5's for years in Prog music. I am waiting on my Bongo 5 fretless
scheduled for the end of May. I recently bought another SR5 in egyptian smoke with white PG. feel free to check out the band I am currently touring with.
