congrats on the accidental bongo man! you're gonna dig the sky blue color...:)

I see you have one! Woohoo cool colour!

Why did I do it?

I've been thinking about it for a while. I know the prices have shot up due to inflation/costs etc, but I got a quote for a new built to order Bongo at pretty much the prices in Summer. I spent some time thinking about it, and eventually went with a big store in South of the UK who have always been very good at service with good pricing. In addition, they only wanted a 20% deposit which is just right for me.

I say it time and time again, but this time I mean it. I have one HELL of a lineup of basses now...especially when I get my two Bongos, so I intend to back off on purchases and enjoy what I have. Unless a Classic Ray....wait...stop it! ARGH

I know the feeling... I have plenty of basses and really don't NEED another, but I am Big Al and Reflex curious and wish that there was someone around my area that had them in stock to try out... plus, I'm waiting to find out what kind of goodies are going to be released at winter NAMM.... I have this feeling that I'll be buying another bass in the early part of 2013... I just don't know what it will be yet. I sure hope my wish of a 10th anniversary sparkle gold-roller bongo comes true, bongos just rule in my world. :)

about 75 miles west of Minneapolis out in the sticks... I've been to 3 or 4 Guitar Center Stores down in the cities, but none of them had a Big Al or a Reflex in stock at the time, the one in Roseville had a Bongo in stock though (black, of course...). I'm pretty sure that if I just went ahead and ordered one that I would be happy with it (at least that's how it worked with the other 4 I bought new...) but I'd like to A/B the 2 models for neck & body comparisons, and I would like to try a single H vs other pu configurations. I reckon I'd most likely end up with a single H though...

You seem to be missing something in your ARSENAL. Reflex?

Ah yes! I know. At the moment I'm waiting to see what the GC brings to the Reflex table. Imagine a 5 HH Reflex in White/Rosewood with the GC...MMMM!

I've spent YEARS thinking about getting Bongo's. Y'know, when they first came out, I was kinda like:

'Woah....what are EBMM upto here?!'

I just didn't 'get it'. Back then though, I was a strictly 4 string with a pick guy.

As my playing progressed, I started to notice the Bongo more.

Ffwd to a few years back, and I switched to 80% fingerstyle, and more recently, I'm learning to slap to a decent-ish level.

The Bongo LURED ME IN! SLOWLY BUT SURELY.

I couldn't have black though. No way. When they released the new colours and new tuners....NOW WAS THE TIME TO POUNCE.

I have just had confirmation from the store that it is now on order and all sorted.

The wait begins...

Health Warning

OMG !! I recognize these symptoms only too well ! G.A.S didn´t affect me when i was as poor as a church mouse but now the mortgage is paid off and Bass guitar porn mags are readily available online i´m finding G.A.S is more addictive than smoking ...and there is NO CURE known to science, so don´t fight it just learn to live with it and as with the nicotine analogy....you can stop but you can never give up....Should guitar sites have a warning on their index page similar to cigarette packs ? and what would it say ?....Peter

Tell her that you tried to buy a brand new fitted kitchen on tinternet but clicked the wrong "add to cart" button or it was given to you by a dear bass playing friend who was suffering from acute finger cramps ? or how about this one.. you had a dream when big poppa appeared to you surrounded by an unearthly glow extolling the virtues of his new Bongo model ....Nah that won´t work either....used to date a geordie lass way back and methinks your courting disaster on a major scale (no pun intended).....Peter ;)

That's a pleasant accident then!!

Having both tangerine pearl and sky blue is arguably the best pair you could have - perfect colours for the Bongo ;)

When does Bongo #2 arrive?
