I really wanted to go see JP, put I have insufficient funds after buying his guitar haha...

Plus, I just bought tickets for Sevendust April 22nd at Ram's Head, and I want to have money to see Rush when they come around (FarCry is sick!!), and of course DT when the US tour comes around.

Man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. On the other hand, congrats!!!

Yeah, I'd like to see Rush and DT too. This San Francisco trip in May is going to cost me a bit, plus I go to ProgPower in Atlanta every year. Not to mention that I need some guitar work done this sumer and would like to purchase another JP6. Aggghhhhh... WHat an expensive habit! ;)

Did you see my other post in the Nashville G3 thread about my band opening for Symphony X @ Jaxx?

No I didn't, but now I officially hate you haha. You've played alongside Enchant and Symphony X?? Thats huge man, congrats on that, I'd be satisfied with my musical career with that under my belt.

I really wish I could see G3, I'd love to have JP sign my guitar and if at all possible shoot the breeze with him, but I'm sure you know the life a musician all too well, so I don't need to preach about an empty wallet.

Maybe Rush will finally have an opening act again this year, or better yet, maybe there will be a "An Evening with Rush and Dream Theater" coheadliner. I'd definitely be there, regardless of what I had to sell haha

I'm going to talk to my bud Cory today, we're both huge Symphony X fans, I'd love to check you guys out, maybe get a sneak peak of Paradise Lost. Can you PM me with more info (or just post it on here to spread the word)?

LOL!!!! Its not nice to hate. ;)
Well, I haven't played along side Enchant YET, that's in May. But the fact that you know and respect them -- you ROCK!! I love Enchant and have been dying to see hem for like 8-9 years. The first I get to see them, I'm part of a festival with them! I'm just slightly stoked - can ya tell? And while my band played with SyX some years back, I wasn't in them at the time, but I was at the show. I do consider myself lucky with the caliber of acts that I've shared the stage with though. Thanks for the kind words!

Yeah, my GF gave me a ticket for my birthday! So I got lucky. I was considering going anyhow, but I agree, money is always an issue. I'd LOVE to meet John. He's been my favorite guitarist for 14 years now. I'm hoping to see more of the old John with all the awesoem phrasing then the newer shred-master John. I like that too, but in smaller doses. He's still the man!

I don't know. Its been so long since Rush took on an opener, I kinda think they may just continue with the way things are. Plus, they have SO much material, they need to play for 12 hours! I haven't seen them since TFE, so it will be cool to catch them again. Man, Rush and DT -- that should be a 24 hour show! lol!

OK, talk with your bud Cory and let me know. You can either PM me here or write me at Rick at Odins Court Band dot Com. The show is Wednesday, August 8 at Jaxx in Springfield, VA. Tickets are only $20 from us. TicketMaster will tack on at least $4 per ticket. Plus, by getting them from us, your are helping us and also supporting the local prog scene in general. We also have a PayPal link on our website that you can use to order and pay directly from us.

I appreciate any and all support! Thanks in advance!

I would have loved to have seen G3 this time around with JP and his BFRs. Oh well. Maybe, I can go next time. I'm sure there are DT shows that are going to be closer to me. So, I'm going to make sure I get to one of those.

Oh yea man, what I've heard of Enchant is awesome. I love "Under Fire", it just grabs you from the start. The guitarist has such a unique style, it's almost Lifeson-ish. I wish that show was a little closer to home, I'd love to see that singer live.

I'm refinishing a friends bass, so after I get paid for that there still may be hope for G3, I just don't like going to concerts by myself. It may be a good thing that I don't go though, because if I get my Petrucci signed, I probably won't want to touch it again haha

I talked to my friend about the show, he's actually seen SyX at Jaxx before. If we can make it out, we'll probably take the metro or something, driving to Jaxx from above Baltimore is no fun, almost guaranteed traffic jams, especially in DC, and I don't want to miss this is at all possible.

Well, the show was AWESOME and his BFRs looked GREAT!! Get rid of that trem and replace it with a stop tail piece and there's my next guitar! I plan on going to the DT shows as well!

Hell yeah -- I love that song too! Yeah, Doug is a great player and he does remind me at times of Lifeson. I wish it were closer too, but I am looking forward to getting back out to CA! I can't wait!

I did go by myself, but I also know that is difficult for me to go just about anywhere without running into people I know -- which I did. It was a great show! Paul and Bruce's set made it so I wanted to call it G4 -- WOW! Petrucci, Larue, and Portnoy were great, and I even enjoyed Satriani this time around. I loved the jam at the end too.

Great! Yeah, I've had a few run-ins going to Jaxx ove rthe years, but for the most part I've had really good luck going there. I hope that you guys decide to go. Let me know about the tickets!

Have a great weekend!

Wish I could've been there, I'll go to the next G3 though, thats for sure.

I talked to another friend of mine, his 2 favorite bands are Lemur Voice (gotta love Marcel Coenen) and SyX, so as long as hes down from his school in Connecticutt, he's down.

I'll let you know the deal ASAP. Enjoy your weekend as well, don't party too hard :D

That's cool! Yeah, I don't realy want to miss that tour any more now. I would've loved to have seen Eric Johnson and Vai, but I at least I have the DVD for now.

Awesome!! I love Lemur Voice too! I have both of their CDs, its a shame they broke up. Never got into Suncaged all that much because of the cookie monster vox (which I have little tolerance for). That would be cool if he could make it too. BTW< I just heard a 38 sec. clip from the new SyX -- it sounds amazing!

Cool! I appreciate it. I'm getting ready to head out the door to drive 140 miles to band practice! I'll back back in your neck of the woods tonight at a friend's acoustic show Dellis' in White Marsh. They are called Acousitc Mojo and features the incomparable Chris Lembach on drums (Mystic-Force, Burn, Deadlock, Shift), Steve Shaffer on guitar and vox (Temp. in Mystic-Force, Burn, Deadlock, Shift), Jeff Caudle on vox (Deadlock, Cypher, Shift) and some guy Joe Arrington oon guitar.

Talk to you soon!

Yea, I probably would've made a better effort to go to G3 had Satch been replaced with Vai or Sfogli or Coenen, hell even McAlpine. I'm not a big Satch fan, his playing just sounds watered down to me, even though he destroys me in every facet haha.

LV is another band my prog bud got me into. One day he was like "Ever heard Lemur Voice?" and being the metalhead I used to be, I hadn't, so he popped on Lethe's Bowl and I was stunned haha. Then I heard Beat It and that was it, Coenen anihilates EVH's original solo. I think Childhood Facade is my fave. I had both cd's, and I think my copy of Insights is actually signed by Marcel, which is awesome, but I gave my copy of Divided to Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu from Trivium when they came through. I saw them at Recher here in Towson, and I figured "Hell, these guys are DT fans, they're going to love this" So I put my email in the booklet so they could let me know if they liked it or not, and never heard from them haha. So, I don't listen to them anymore :D

Yea I agree on Sun Caged, I downloaded a song off their site when I first heard Marcel and I had high hopes. What Marcel was playing was fine, but the singer sounded like a pop singer trying to be Phil Anselmo, I wasn't feeling it.

I hope the scheduled release date doesn't get delayed anymore. They've been making us all wait forever. Rush, DT and SyX are all coming out with new stuff at the same time, that would be awesome if at least 2 of them toured together. Or maybe another Gigantour, without Fear Factory and Megadeth. Rush, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Nevermore, and The Hideous Sun Demons, Id die haha

Thats an intense drive for practice, I don't think I could handle that. Thats too bad it wasn't a day earlier, I was just in White Marsh last nite. I'd swing by tonite, but I'm helping my friend with his Jeep all day, so I won't be able to get out. Definitely let me know how that goes.
