What's up with the axis? Why would you want one? If you own one, could you live without it?

I have a super sport with the non-locking trem. They are nice sounding and looking guitars and always light due to the basswood. I think a lot of people are confused and don't realize how good basswood is sound-wise, and consistent, too. No 24 frets madness ruining everything. You then add the shape at the upper neck pocket which is a bit more tele than strat, holding on to more of the neck pocket and not having the free-floating larger uppper horn of a strat and you have a recipe for a nice guitar.

I could certainly live without mine since I can't really deal with the 41mm nut. I also think I probably prefer a rosewood board. Mine is maple and I don't think the tru oil finish works that well under the large-ish frets.

I'll redo tru oil and wax on the neck, hopefully that makes it a bit more agreeable.

How do the axis and axis super sport compare? Is it just the addition of a tone knob?

No, I could not live without at least one Axis in my collection.

The Axis has the Floyd, and the s.s. has the vintage trem. I was a diehard Floyd player until I tried the ebmm tremolo. You must try their super-smooth tremolo. I no longer love the Floyd. Sorry Mr Rose.

I'm with Tollie. MM trem's are very smooth, work well, and can be set to float. That's why i prefer the Axis SuperSport over the Axis.

Its been a while since I had an Axis - but if I recall it has a 3 position pickup selector. The Supersport has a 5 position.

I have lots of friends who love their Axis to death, and as everything you have to pick one up and decide for yourself. My personal experience with the Axis is that I love how they look, but my hands just feel strange and not too comfortable while playing it.

Every MM guitar is a killer piece of craftmanship, but there are so many models you can try, that you really have to decide which one fits YOUR needs and tastes better.

First of all: HOLY SH*T THAT'S A GORGEOUS TOP!!!!

Second, to answer the OP: Why NOT an Axis? And, no, I couldn't imagine my Axis not being part of my collection. I'd buy more if I could afford it. I have several guitars (4 BC Rich and 2 Jacksons) and the Axis is the most comfortable. It may not be my ideal metal machine, but it does everything. And the neck..that neck....

Billy while I can live without an Axis, fine guitar sounds great dislike the floyd, the Axis Super Sport is awesome and has more options than an Axis plus what no one has mentioned about the Axis Super Sport is you can get them in hard tail, I prefer no trem at all on guitars if they made Axis hardtails today would buy one in a heartbeat.

Good luck either would make a great addition to your EBMM collection

I have 2 Axis Super Sports...one trem...one hard tail. I couldn't part with either one of them..simply the best guitars I've ever played. So versatile in regards to tone and the playability is obvious right away...fast neck and great looks!

It's a rock machine and then some!

Why an Axis? Well, because it's such a solid rock guitar!

The pickups are fantastic, and does anything from AC/DC to Metallica and beyond, and if you add the split possibilities it's got great clean tones too. My Axis is modded with a real single-coil in the middle-position, and it's such a versatile guitar. I really love it!

Besides that, it looks so cool! Kinda clumsy like a tele, but in a more RAWK! way.

I'm a fan :D
