Hi there guys,

I have been wondering why there is still no availability for hardware parts like the custom EBMM bridges, vibrato bars, as well as the 4-over-2 schaller locking tuners, and even the DiMarzio pickup switches upon request.

I'm pretty confident that the market on these things would achieve shy-high numbers.

Reason for this thread, is a JPXI in Cardinal Red I bought a while back and would love to see it dressed in black, but the parts are not available; not even in the local EBMM dealer.

Is there any chance that this policy is going to change in the near future? It's a "please, take my money" situation =)

It's been pretty clearly asked and answered many times.

MM doesn't sell proprietary parts - bodies, necks, bridges, pickups, etc - for a variety of reasons. One of which is to cut down on the number of counterfeit guitars out there (a knock-off guitar would look much more real with a MM bridge, neck plate and decal for the neck ...).

You can always replace broken/worn parts, but it requires sending back the originals first, and you have to get the same configuration (you can't swap chrome for black, etc.).

That said, they do sell parts that they don't manufacture. Because, of course, you could purchase these somewhere else anyway. You mentioned locking tuners - these are made by Schaller, and you can buy them various places (and probably direct from MM if you ask). Likewise, they'll sell you the Dimarzio switch or other switches.

Hope that helps.

I see, thanks a lot from clarifying that to me personally beej.

However, the thing with the 4-over-2 Schaller tuners is that only EBMM offers that combo. That would mean that were you willing to change the tuners you would have to buy one set with left-sided tuners, and another one with right-sided tuners only to use 4 from one set, and two from the other.

Now, if I understand correctly, I can buy from EBMM the 4-over-2 tuners' set, as well as the black pickup 3-way switches but not anything else. Correct?

Thanks again for your time and effort beej, greatly appreciated.

I think BP mentioned in a post last year about making some more parts available - the conversation was about pickguards, but he may have referenced some other bits. I can't remember now.

No worries - sorry I can't recall the thread. Ya never know what might occur if people keep asking. Isn't that how Dargie one came about - people constantly asking?
The only other alternative- which could be a goer - is buy a used JP that has the black hardware, swap them out with your chrome stuff, put the black on yours, then sell the donar. Probably won't lose much money doing it that way

No worries at all about the thread, when the time has come, it'll happen I guess.

Hahaha, yeah.. I thought about this resolution myself but to be honest it's a little bit of a bother.

It could be the case the Big Pops is going to change his view on that one day, just like you said. Keep on asking..

Happy to help.

You should be able to get them from anyone who sells Schaller, you just have to order 4 of one kind and 2 of the other. (I've bought them from Stewmac before.)

However, the truly sought after artefacts are the EBMM bridges along with their bars. As well as the black switches for the piezo and the magnetic pickups =( (from a JPetrucci models point of view).

I've been thinking about getting a Stealth JP just for the Parts and swap 'em with the Chrome Parts on my Emerald Green Sparkle
It's just a bit silly, buying another 3.5k Guitar just to swap the Hardware...
If the Stealth Charcoal JP, that's now discontinued didn't have a painted Neck I would've done it and kept both Guitars :D

Is it possible to buy the newer compensate nut? For a older Luke 2?

You can buy nut blanks from MM - just contact support and they will sell and ship. That said - if your older Luke 2 came withOUT a compensated nut, then the blank will not fit. The compensated nuts are deeper than the older style nuts

Schaller will sell you the 4/2 set directly if you call them. They did a custom set for me for a Parker I once owned. They were very nice and easy to work with.
