Thought this may be relevant as I am new and drooling for a MM lol.
You know, I wanted a third guitar is all. NOT a mega expensive "oh my god don't take it out of the case it's too fragile/costly" guitar. A guitar I will not worry about taking to lessons, jamming with. A guitar I could enjoy and trust. An american guitar (as will be moving back to UK and USA gutars are mega bucks there).
So my search starts. I Have a 90's Gibson Les Paul Standard, so have dual hum pups covered (but I baby the thing due to what it cost me and it's worth). So I buy a used Jackson SL4 Soloist, Japanese neck-thru in natural wood finish. It needs a re-finish (as it is an excellent guitar) and I bought it cheap enough to warrant this. Again this has two hum pups, pattern here? lol
So, third guitar (and LAST for now, moving costs etc. are gonna make my blood pressure spike lol).
Dunno why but saw a B.C.Rich Gunslinger and LOVED the simplicity. Single hum pup, volume control and thats it. I found one on Evilbay and it went for too much IMO. So, searched, put out feelers, OMG these things (pre B.C. buyout ala mid-late 90's are rare!). Then I see a Neal Moser Gunslinger with a Nagel Print. NOT usually my cup of tea but it grew on me quickly. I went to Moser board (for those not in the know, I was'nt to start, Neal Moser worked at B.C.Rich and designed the Bich amongst others, NOT Rico Snr., he is actually writing a book and it will be more than any soap opera you have ever seen lol). Anyway, I digress, it goes ballistic price wise (due to rarety). Then I find EBMM, phew.
Now, I want an Axis SS. Why? It has two hum pups, Again! lol. Well, twofold really. I have read NOTHING but good reviews (and the pups are tapped so sound will be at least different than my other two lol) and MOSTLY, EB back up and actually participate with their owners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This to me is HUGE!!!! How many other manufacturer's that are not "cottage industry" actually care a rats ass after their product has been sold????
Not Gibson I can tell ya, Not Jckson (omg those guys are elitist and think the sun shines outta their BEEP!) and not many others I would hazard.
The aforementioned Neal Moser has emailled me several times himself, but he is a Custom Builder/Master Luthier so dos'nt really count.
To ALL Ernie Ball Employee's, I am GOING to buy a guitar that you produced because YOU STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT!!!! Even after sale,re-sale etc. etc.
In todays market place, this is phenomenal.
WELL DONE!!!!!!!
