I've never seen a Sabre in person...only pics, but why do the pickup covers almost always look like they've been a little too close to the campfire?...like they've melted.
I've noticed that too. My guess is that it's the plastic - either too thin or too flexible and then if they get too hot, like when you leave your bass in a hot car for too long, they get distorted. I'm no expert in plastics, but I know there's a fine line here - can't be too rigid or it will crack - like the styrene they use for plastic model kits for example. Then if it's too thin or flexible, it will distort too easily.
