I've been doing a lot of pondering and soul searching (okay maybe that's too dramatic, but it's more than just thinking) about why I am gravitating towards only playing/owning EBMM...

I've come up with several reasons for me.

First, I love the sound. In the end I think that is what should drive your instrument choice. The EBMM sound(s) are especially pleasing to me.

Made in USA. I know this is not a big deal for our friends across the pond, but for many of us here it is a selling point.

Made in CA. Same as above, only I have even more respect for businessmen who choose to stay in CA as we do nothing to make it easy on them.

Made in SLO county (my county). Though part of the operation has been moved, I still consider EBMM a local business. SLO county is not the easiest place in CA to own a business. In this county EBMM is very well known, and made local news when they had to move part of the operation.

Finally is build. They really are amazing instruments. You get what you pay for, and all of the above factors contribute to the cost but also to the quality. If you look at resale value, MM seems to keep theirs quite well. I think this has more to do with quality than collector's appeal (right now).

I can't afford to have a bunch of them, but they are good enough and I have developed enough of a loyalty that I'll save my dollars for them and play only them.

What reasons do you all have?

was a childhood dream for me lol.. when i first saw john petrucci in 1999 when i was only 13 years old,
the first time he used the new EBMM jp on Scenes from a memory dvd.. I WAS like wow i wanted it.

as i grew older i played more and more guitars including the ernieballs and i finally knew this was the one..

so this year i finally got the chance to acquire one and there it is..

sound is perfect, the build, the neck feel, everything about them is just so perfect even down to how the contours are made its totally perfect. i feel way more confident than anytime else playing musicmans.. and it will stay that way forever.

cheers

I love the design of the original JP, that's the first thing that I liked. But when I actually played one, it was an amazing feeling. The build quality, the tone, it just works for me. Haven't looked back since.

I first heard about EBMM ten years or so ago because I was a big Dream Theater fan (and guitar player of course) and heard about JP's switch from Ibby to EBMM.

That pretty much started it all right there. But then again, it wouldn't be for another 8 or so years until I could afford one.

I absolutely loved the unfinished neck. It was the insta-hook for me. So when it came time for me to order, I got a JP with BFR RW neck. I fell in love again. I loved the JP, but with my musical circumstances (couldn't afford more than one axe) I needed an axe that could do many many many things. So I traded it in for the 25th I currently have now.

I have played a host of balls, but I've got to say, the 25th is as close to my heart as they come. Does everything.

I saw a cheap OLP and bought it. I returned it the next day totally disappointed with it. That day I was at a different music store and they had an ASS to die for. So I bought it. It all started with wanting that EVH body style. That was late 05.

Once I owned it, the neck got me. Craftsmanship & their sound have kept me.

The neck on my A.S.S. had me hooked from day 1...the overall sound and beauty of these guitars is what keeps me coming back. I love to see them hanging on my wall...works of art.

Easy answer: No one, and I mean NO ONE, makes a higher quality solid bodied electric guitar, at this price point or any price point. :)

Other companies may use more expensive and/or exotic materials, but that merely makes it more expensive, not better.

And when it comes to 7 strings, which is what I primarily play, there is simply NO competition. No one even comes close. I've owned them all, Ibanez, ESP, a Schecter, etc. They paled in comparison to my JP7 BFR's.

When I first read/heard about the original JP7's (which I still have one of), I drove 4hrs to a store just to play one that was already sold (I swore up and down to the owner I wouldn't mark it up so he let me try it).

I was hooked, it was the most amazing 7 I'd ever played. 4 EB's later I own two BFR's as well that I couldn't be happier with and couldn't imagine something better for me. :)

I love my EB's!! :D

I came to the realization a few years ago that I'm just too old to buy crap.

They play good, they're made good, they sound good and they're made by good people - 'nuff said

on a serious note, it is all about quality and playability. Not to mention the tops on the EVH/Axis sucked so bad and the few times I got to go to the factory the people were always top notch.

The build quality, neck design and sound quality of the luke(soon to be lukes:D)has converted me over from the big "F" and unless something else comes along that's better I think i'll be using ebmm's for a long time to come.
