Silo for my daughter

I'm a stingray player myself.....I know, wrong forum....but my daughter is six stringer wants to join the MM clan. She has her eye on a silo for xmas. The white silo on the bay looks to be in good condition. The HSH pup combo looks good. The 6 bolt neck plate is the only visial difference that I can detect. Anybody care to offer up what the benefit might be of going for a new model vs. "vintage". Thanks.

The new Silo will have locking tuners... not a real big deal but something to consider. It's always a crap shoot with older guitars. Will it need a fret job soon, is the neck straight?

The biggest advantage of the new one is that you get to choose all the options, color, trem, neck.

Good luck!

interestingly

it went for over $800! I'll bet it plays like a dream. Wish I'd had the money. And it's an Ermie Ball Music Man, why would it need a fret job, or any attention to the frets? It looked barely used.

My Al looked great in the pictures too, but it needed a fret job. It wasn't worth making a big deal over, but it wasn't exactly as it was represented. Simply telling the buyer to beware.
