I've looked high & low for a quality left-handed Axis (ie. Floyd) but was never able to find anything even remotely in the same league as the EBMM Axis. Fender have now released the Wolfgang in lefty but I much prefer the Axis. Why has EBMM never released a lefthanded Floyd Rose option? Thanks for listening!

Wow someone else like me!! I went through the same thing a few years back. I ended up getting a JP because of the trem system. I'm a huge floyd fan and the axis would have been perfect. I actually got a wolfgang due to this fact. It's a good guitar, but my preferance is the JP. If the axis was offered in left then that wolfy would hit the sales market pretty fast! I like the neck on the axis a WHOLE lot better then the wolfgang.

most stuff like this comes down business: the demand for left handed Axis probably just isn't high enough to justify the cost of tooling and parts procurement

I completely understand the economics, especially in this economic climate. EBMM could create a list with down-payments of people who'd participate. It comes down to numbers. Create a sticky thread, advertise with a banner on the website and through dealers that for example the company is willing to create a run of say 50 or a 100 lefty Axis models if the demand's there. Of course this is guessing on my part, but worldwide, there should be a demand for that many guitars, right? EBMM is one of the few that offers excellent price/quality ratio's. Lefties have ample choice of crap guitars, and then there are the boutique brands, the other end of the spectrum. Current comparison similar guitars:

EBMM Axis $1800
Fender Wolfgang $3200

Pfft. There's no comparison, Axis all the way.

I called EBMM in 2001 after they had started offering the Axis Super Sport, and offered to send them an official lefty Floyd Rose bridge to install as a custom order, but was met with: 'no'.

I ended up spending $2000+ on a Warmoth to get what I wanted (did so in 2001 for my lefty faux Axis), but I would have much rather bought an EBMM. Money lost for EBMM. Where there's a will, there's a way. From my perspective, the only thing EBMM would have to special order would be lefty Floyd's. Everthing else is already present with the ASS, save the three-way switch. I humbly acknowledge to have no knowledge of EBMM cost barriers, but it never hurts to ask, right?
