I'd say go with whatever fits your needs and your funds. I personally play a StingRay 5 and i'm hoping to get a Bongo 5 for graduation as a backup bass. Just whatever fits brotha.

Because the Bongo is the best production instrument currently on the planet?
Because you want to be like me?
Because they look cool and help you get girls?
Because they knock down small Asian cities and triumph over flying turtle monsters?

There are all kinds of good reasons, really.

The Stingray neck is the most "chunky"...
The Sterling neck is the most "perfect"...
The Bongo neck is somewhere in between...

(But that's based on my hands - ymmv)

+1 ...

... and of course the preamp from hell

more reasons:

1) u like how it looks
2) if you buy one from jack then he'll have enough money for an HH SR5
3) BP needs money to replace Dargins amp that he broke (i think i read about that)

I think all of Jack's purchases should have covered the Aggie by now.

It will leave all your boutique bass buddys in denial, when they find out you paid half of what they paid for theirs.

It will make sound techs happy....
It will make women come up and talk to you at gigs...(My Wals couldn't)
It will take attention away from guitar players......

+1. The bass o' my dreams has long been the MTD 535, but it was, is, and will be just too spendy for me to feel comfortable with.

The relatively low price of the Bongo is what really tipped the scales and made me buy a new bass at this time.

...I guess I'm just a Ray kind of guy. Probably be best for you to try both if you can and see which you like better. Good luck & God Bless!

Me too!

Good advice!

If you "need" the 24th fret, a harmonic at the 12th fret will get you the same note. The 23rd fret notes will be more of a challange though.

Actually, the harmonic at the 12th fret will get you the same note as the 12th fret.
