The title pretty much says it all, I tried a search without any luck.

I know it's a pretty superfluous question given that the SM models are not available with a vintage trem option. (Please note this is NOT a "Oh please make me a SM guitar with a vintage trem! type thread) I am just curious so to better obtain a clearer understanding of the SM guitar and what Steve had envisioned his guitar to be.
So why did Steve opt for the Floyd Rose over the EBMM Vintage Trem? I assume that the locking tuners provide greater tuning stability which I imagine is important, but is there anything else?
