This is in no way a slam against it, but why the high interest level? IMHO, it looks nice, but it would be near the bottom of my color preference list. To each his own, but what's the attraction with that color/scheme?

Couldn't that question be asked about any color scheme?

Ask yourself the same question about Black Magic Crystal and you've got your answer.

Try the search button on the Dargie Delight. So, in a nutshell I will spell it out.

BP said green guitars/basses don't sell. Then they put out the Dargie Delight with the martini glass inlays to see how it would do. Basically, after all the begging and pleading of the knuckleheads here. About as close to a forum based guitar/bass you will get.

A lot of peeps bought the Dargie Delight. I will admit to passing on the first run as cool as they are. (I believe I was one of the first non-EBMM types to get my hands on it at Summer NAMM). I just don't like green instruments.
Not sure of the numbers, but, I believe they were posted on the forum. Again, search button will help you out there.

Funny thing is....I have a Dargie Delight 2 JP6. I happen to like this green instrument. It is my "go to" guitar....funny how I don't like green guitars...

So, the attraction is like anything else. You might like red guitars. I personally don't. To each his own. The Dargie caused quite the stir here....and it was a cool thing to see develop from beginning to end.

Really, if you don't like it...move to the one you do.

At the time, the only Dargie on earth. I didn't make the exit, though.

Yea, but.

But Black Magic Crystal is a given. ;-)

I haven't had the opportunity to see one in person. All I have seen is pictures and lots of interest in it. I just want to know what I'm missing out on. I want to get it....

You don't have to get it...

They've been limited edition runs, the first one being a result of many forum members really digging the colour/concept and BP and crew graciously putting it into production (and re-opening the order window after much begging from a certain scottish fellow ;))

It's not compulsory to like every model/colour offered.

So it's a collector's thing?

I can fully relate to the limited edition aspect.

Besides the color, martini-glass inlays or ebony fretboard and what is in my avatar...depending on which run of Dargies we are talking about.

A Dargie 1 was my first EBMM, for me the inlay was the thing. If you see a picture of Oli's DD1 fretless blank plank Ray... you will understand. It is class in a glass if you know what I mean!

at first i thought the question didn't make much sense ... seeking an objective explanation in a matter of personal/subjective taste and preference. but then i temporarily shifted my perspective to one where my own personal preferences were the only "right" ones, and suddenly it all made perfect sense. silly me.

The idea for the Dargie was hatched here. EBMM staff controlled the design but the clamoring for a green bass was borne of the forumites. It's a great thread worth looking up. BP put up some good resistance but indulged us in the end.

That is the attraction of the Dargie.:)

I think koogs nailed most of it

but also what I can recall is that Dargin had this green bass as his avatar and everyone kept commenting that they would love a green bass and it started getting called martini olive green colour, but BP kept saying that green basses didn't sell then out of the blue BP said the colour was available and we had 1 month window to order the colour I think it was extended or reopended for another week or 2 to commerate the passing of ernie ball. I think 247 or something around that figure instruments were ordered.

so it is a quasi forum bass because it was made available to the music stores as well.
