+1 on that, 'specially when they have worn nice and shiney (aaah..the good old days when the standard bass had birds eye maple)
Amen to that. My sterling neck is gorgeous. Birdseye'd and completely worn and shiny.

I have to say the gunstock oil and wax finished neck on my SR 5 is the easiest playing of any bass I ever picked up. Bongo included.

I feel the need to step in here and say that the necks are not unfinished. They are finished with gunstocxk oil and wax.

On rosewood fretboards you should only use lemon oil on the board itself, gunstock oil/wax on the neck only. Is there any long term damage that could happen to the fretboard if I get a little gunstock oil and wax on the edges etc?
