I was watching Letterman last night and I believe I seen Will Lee playing a black Bongo. He also played his sunburst Sad*****sky, but I seen on two occasion a black bass with the Bongo vibe, anyone know for sure?

… Oh, have I mentioned that I would like to have a lefty Bongo, and I have the money and patience for the wait? :D

Do a search! Just kidding...I posted about this way before you started posting here.

Yes, It's true! Will Lee plays a Bongo here and there. :D :D :D

I guess I'll go play my Bongo...you know the one that is right handed...the one I don't have to wait several months for... ;)

I've heard - and these are only rumours, mind you - that Will really digs the Bongo and is playing it more and more.

You know what I wonder? I wonder if Tony Levin is putting his to use or if he's still addicted to the Stingrays.....anyone know?

Thanks for clearing that up, and yes I should have done a search.

I wouldn't be able to play a lefty Bongo today even if I had one; I've got too much to do. We are hosting our annual big bash Saturday at our Virginia house, so basically I'm a beer truck driver and carnie today. :D

I follow along with his tour diaries (found here: http://www.papabear.com/). I remember when he posted about being presented with a Bongo5 while on tour with PG. However, I haven't seen him using it since. Then again, he's always the one taking pictures so he hardly ever posts pictures of himself playing.

Steeve Lukather played in the house band for the Les Paul 90th Bday bash at Carnegie Hall and WIll Lee was the bass player and he used his Bongo the whole time. Luke asked him about it and he said I just love this bass"

Ive known WILL FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND HE IS A CLASS ACT.

Did you know that he was a class mate with Steve Morse at university of Miami? Jaco was there too

When I saw Tony Levin with California Guitar Trio a couple of weeks ago, he was playing his fretted and fretless Stingray 5's. He played the fretless on all but about 3 songs (played incredibly I might add, I was standing right at his feet against the stage). The CGT gig probably wouldn't be the most likely place to be sportin' a Bongo, though.

Chris Squire and Tony Levin.

2 Bassists with distinct tones that I love. Went and tried the Ric's and the Stingrays looking for that sound. Something about the necks on either one just wasn't right for me. The Ric seemed too wide, the SR seemed to thick. Then I tried a Bongo and it was just right :) .

I have never seen T Levin play a bongo, which makes me wonder if he was an influence on the new Rays, or at least gave suggestions.
But a new 2PU SR5 has always been on my wishlist.

I saw Tony in 1989 with Anderson Bruford Wakeman & Howe... imagine Tony, playing Chris Squire's lines, on a StingRay, with the Funk Fingers.

Adam

I remember that tour. Didn't make it to a show. Bought the video afterwards and was upset because Tony was sick the evening they taped it and didn't make it. Would have loved to see Tony bangin' away with is funk fingers.
