Off Topic Wired or Wireless?

I use the Line 6 digital rack mount. Big difference over the stomp versions. I never realized how much diffmy tone and volume was until I could hear it myself. You can not really go by what others tell you. Wireless all the way. No tone loss with the better digital units.

I jumped over from the skinny string side.... Been using an X2 for about a year now. In my setup, it's quieter than using a cord (breaks any ground loops). I've noticed that they dropped the price from $200, which was a great deal to $129. Run an AC adapter into the receiver side and change out the sender battery every 2 hours of playing and you'll be fine.

A few years ago I used a Samson Airline "bug" wireless for maybe 100 gigs without a hitch. Last year I "upgraded" to a brand new Line 6 G30 unit that failed after 2 gigs. I do like being wireless, but most of my gigs these days are impersonating Bill Wyman or playing in a blues trio so freedom of movement on stage is not a priority.

I will add another vote for the Line 6 Relay system. I've been very happy with the rack-mount G90 unit I own. Even when you don't move around much, cords still just end up getting tangled on things...

I go wireless every show, regardless how big the stage is. I use a Shure PGX 14, and I love it. I keep my transmitter attached to my strap, and if I switch basses I just take off the strap and put it on a different bass. Takes me all of 5 seconds. I just love the freedom you have being wireless.

i found that unless you use a digital system all the analog systems i have used Shure, AKG, Sennheiser, compress your signal. if i decide to go back to a wireless system i have heard only good things about the X2 wireless systems. i talked to a rep from shure at a electronics music expo in NYC last year and ask him about a digital system and i guess us bass players get the short end of the stick as he said that the primary uses (vocals, guitar) arent not adversely effected by the companding of an analog system, and didnt know if shure would be coming out with a digital system anytime soon.
