I'd like to replace the 3 way switch in my Axis sport with a 4 way for added series wiring.

But I can't figure out the wiring. The switch used in my guitar is of a different fare than the standard Tele 3 way switch.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram somewhere, which would be a lot easier for me to read and translate to a new 4 way switch..?

Thanks!

Ok so I did a quick diagram. The switch unfortunately appears to be a superswitch of some kind; it's got two full rows of 6 lugs. I'm not sure I could use a standard 4 ways switch... I'll contact customer service and see what they say. Definitely hoping to hear from you guys though... ;)

Definitely get ahold of Customer Service tomorrow and ask for the wiring diagram/schematic. The switch is two row switch and it is like a strat super switch although the pins are different, so the wiring diagram will help you immensely. I've got the schematic of the ASS with MM90's and also with hummers if you want one of these send me your email addy in a message. My schematic of the ASS with MM90's has a simple one wafer swith like a strat, so you should be able to go 4 way with a 4 way switch easily.

I don't think that tele switch will work.

CS will send you a pdf of the wiring for your guitar. I got one for a Silo Spec HSS when I was wiring up my sub 1 with the silo pickups and silent circuit.

The superswitch and silent circuit add a lot of complexity. If you're comfortable with...and understand wiring, you'll be fine. I'm a EE, so none of this bothers me. The silent circuit has inputs for each pickup. It goes between the pickup ground and guitar ground. There's also +9v and power gnd (which is separate) on the silent. On the silo spec, with a humbucker, the superswitch is used to put the silent circuit in when you split the hum. I don't really know how it's wired with 2 MM90's (haven't looked at mine), but assume that it's nothing more than silent circuit always in place and + side of each pickup direct to the 3 way.

Can you do the mod? I don't know. I used a strat 5 way switch to do my sub, but I don't coil split the hum, so don't need the superswitch option there.

You can ohm out the superswitch to figure out what it's doing. Probably the best way, so you know what's going on anyways.

I agree, you'd need a multi-pole switch to make it work.

If you want to wire it up so both pickups are in series, you're going to need to isolate them from the SC (since you're feeding one into another, so one of them won't be starting at ground). Seems reasonable you can do this with a multi-pole switch, but you'll just have to think through the wiring.

I forgot about the silent circuit in which case you're right beej, Sounds to me like he already has a super switch though. Wonder if his switch is stock?

The switch seems stock. Stock diagram is a superswitch. Basically a 3 way x 2.
I'd need a 4 way x 2 as well... :(

A super switch is a 5 way x2 isn't it? Does your switch look like this?

Nah. It's essentially a 3way switch x 2. I said superswitch in a more generic term I guess... I never saw any 4 way double switches though... :(

Yeah me neither... Meh. I was really looking forward to the series wiring... I'll play without the silent circuit for a while and see if it bothers me any.

It also seems that the pickups have an extra wire that goes to the silent circuit. I'm guessing it's just a doubled hot wire (to create the loop with the dummy coil) but it would make putting in aftermarket pickups a hassle.

Then again, those MM90s are damn good in their own right.
