So I recently assimilated a Silhouette into my arsenal. Love the guitar. It plays great. The pickups just aren't as hot as I would like. I came up with a couple options and want to know what you guys think.

Option 1: Only replace the bridge and neck humbuckers with something a bit hotter from the DiMarzio lineup. I'd keep the standard control options, but drop in a Tone Zone or Crunch Lab in the bridge, then a Liquifire in the neck.

Option 2: Replace the humbuckers like in option 1, but also add some control options like a blower switch, or a push/pull coil split, or both.

Option 3: Yank out the passive pickups and put EMG's in it. I'd probably do 81 at the bridge, S or SA for the center, and 85 at the neck.

So, what do you guys think?

Well, I think you should find the pickups that will give you the sound you're after and go for it. Of course you know I am going to go with the 'blower switch' option because that is awesome :D:D

Ok I like 2 and 3. I will say this though if you go with 3. Get the 89(you may beed the 89r) and the 81tw that way you can still get single coil tones ala your split idea from idea 2. If you think the EMGs are two much then all I have to say is X series they are said to act more like passives. They make an 89 and 81tw in the X series and I can give you a simple wiring diagram to experiment with the 18 volt with our having to have the guitar perminatly wired for 18 volts.
