$4000 opening bid for an EVH? It's a shining testament to the interface designers that built eBay that someone this stupid can manage to post an ad there at all... How hard is it to do a quick search and see what other EVH's are selling for? And who do you think is going to pay $4000 for yours when they can get the same thing for less than $2000 somewhere else?

Yah, especially since a virtually identical purple EVH went for something like $1400 in a previous auction just recently - all this bonehead had to do was run a Completed Auctions scan to see what an idiot he is. But that's what happens when one lives in denial, I guess...

Actually, Jimi, that would be a neat modification to the eBay interface...having something that lists the value of previously sold similar items as you enter yours. But then again, they'd have no financial incentive to do that, since they'd make less on the listing and selling fees if some equally stupid moron with money to burn actually bit on a "deal" like that (and sadly, there's trust-fund kids out there that will do that kind of thing just because they can).

eBay is a great example of the market setting the cost of an item, though. The guys who were making premium $$$ on selling overpriced guitars and other stuff just a few years ago absolutely hate it. The scathing screed from Ed Roman's site is a prime example - which is even more comical because he's forced to use it to liquidate the stock in his brick and mortar store!
