I really try to google my butt off with a friend over here, but I can't seem to find anything else than the old news about brazilian rosewood.
I thread this cause rumors are flying about cocobolo (did I spell that right) and hawaiian koa will join the big book of export-nej!

When the news hit me, I almost greeted the damn floor.
I don't know much about cocobolo, but I really love the koa and what it tonally do with my sound. So bright and clear.. I love it! :D

Anyone of you wiz' know anything about this??

It has been suggested that protection of Cocobolo be upgraded to CITES appendix II, which relates to species of plants and animals "not necessarily now threatened with extinction but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled." In which case, there will further restrictions on harvesting and export trade. FWIW, many species of tone woods (including many ebonies and rosewoods) have been protected under CITES app. II or III for quite some time. "Brazilian" Rosewood is of course CITES appendix I, meaning that international trade is prohibited (with a few special exemptions under certain circumstances).

Sadly, I am obliged to close this thread. These discussion simply cannot run their course without somebody making inflammatory political statements and trolling which starts the shouting and pulling of hair and then moderators lose sleep dealing with it all behind the scenes and banning people.

Sorry!
