I just purchased a Bongo and I did a good long research on it and I never heard that story.......

the worst I have heard is the toilet seat thing.........

all I can say to those people is "I'll bet my toilet seat makes better tones than theirs."................:D

This is, as you might imagine, hard to photograph.

This bass was delivered new in September 2005. It gets played a few hours a week on average.

I included a body shot with the same reference items to show how the neck compares.

I will have to look at the neck on my Bongo. My thumb goes back there and hasn't complained about the neck yet. :D
