Hey Pitslayer666! Nice name by the way. You obviously haven't been playing for a very long time 'cause Ernie Balls are some of the best strings I've ever used. There are a couple other brands that might come close but believe me, I've been playing for a couple decades now and "The Balls" are the longest lasting and do keep their tone . Oh and by the way...I sure hope you play better than you can spell and puncuate and your use of profanity could use a little finesse. What kind of strings does the pitslayer666 use that make Ernies seem so lame?

aint been playing a long time ive been playing nearly 10 years now. i only checked back because iam gunna edit what i said. but now i cant be arsed. i use zac wild GHS strings. i got amazing tone and they didnt leave marks in my fingers from being to hard. i ahve GHS on 3 of my guitars
schecter
brian may burns
and my orginal KISS iceman and they play fantastic they also last longer. ive just had to replace my scheter ones after one string broke and the others frayed, 2 years since ive had it.

you recomend a set of ernie balls which are good and ill try them
not power slinkys or the extra slinky. for lead, riff licks and metal

If you are gonna be ripping up 'Angel of Death' or 'Raining Blood', check out the 'Skinny Top-Heavy Bottom' strings. They're great for super chunky power chording and you can get some good high string bends in there for soloing and stuff. I play in a punk rock band, so the 'Regular Slinkys' serve me very well. I still play a little bit of metal on the side and they work just fine for that, too.

Well, if you're not satisfied with the Ernie Ball strings, go for other brands that you do like. You made your point, but everybody's free to choose the brand of strings that they like best. For some that's Ernie Ball, for some that's something else. That's life, my friend.

Hey Pitslayer, go somewhere else. Leave the House of Balls"(no offence Jazzy J) and bug the guys at the GHS forum (if such a thing exists) Once again, if you didn't like the EB's suggested to you, move on to something else, like your zakk wilde sig gauges. Can't you even come up with your own gauges? I swear there's too many followers in this world, not enough people have individuality anymore. Anyway...GO AWAY!!!

Two words
"BULL SH*T"
No strings last anywhere near that long. Why resort to lies to try and slag ernie off??? If there's something really wrong with them why not just say what's it is rather than than making up crap to make them look bad. This is a forum for people who play and whatever intruments EB make strings for, and most of them know what there talking about. They know how long strings last. You talkin poop will not influence them in any manner. If you don't like EB then buy somthing else anyway GO AWAY

...... hmmm ..........
Pitlicker668.... opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one and you definitely are entitled to yours. My only question is why spend all the effort?? Obviously you've got alot of pent-up rage against EB strings or you wouldn't have bothered to register here and start this thread... why not spend that time with your "year old" GHS strings and learn a couple more minor pentatonic riffs? or maybe poster your town with "I Love GHS" posters?? Put your angst into practice time or shower time but not here OR if you do rant again in here, USE PROPER ENGLISH, it'll make you seem more intelligent and less of a loudmouth...

Have fun with GHS they're probably a great company too and are proud to have a loyal customer such as yourself to promote them.

To pitslayer666 and others knocking Ernie Ball

To pitslayer666 and others knocking Ernie Ball. Give the Stainless Steel Slinky's a try. I use them on my electric guitar and 4 string percision bass and if EB made a set of stainless steel for 5 string I'd use them too.

For some reason you won't find them at your local Guitar Center and I've never seen them sold anywhere but on the web.

You can buy them at www.musiciansfriend.com.

yo, yo, yo,...bro. there's an animal in da house. pitslayer...10 years of fat finger chords don't make you a playa.

Homie...take your bashmaster tude back to thu poarch. Buy another brand and rock yo self ta sleep. Geez...whine about thu cost! Ppllleeeez. It's thu good stuff that'll cost ya. Buy the spensive stuff an tell all yo friends that you step'd out for the dope strings.

Sorry everyone,...got a little worked up. I'll be ok after a little nap. I can't believe I got sucked into that.

i kinda laughed at a couple of pitslayers points...
"not every1 likes ernie balls" or whatever he said. i work in a music shop, and EB strings are the biggest selling string BY FAR! we sell more super slinky packs than we do any other string. (we stock Fender strings, Dario, GHS etc..)
and to say they are too expensive, this may be different in other countries, but EB guitar strings are cheaper than any other string we sell (well we sell the roto red/yellow/pink at the same price) but im willing to bet my kidneys that they would be cheaper than the GHS strings.
so, bascially, your wrong.

My point exactly...if he thinks there's a "bling" factor in there, so be it.

EB strings are well valued and an excellent product in my book.

people like that are why making United State a free country was a bad idea. most people aren't mentally competent enough to even begin to develope a somewhat rational thought and i think that guy damn near climbs to the top of that pile. atleast we were lucky enough for that guy to grace us with his 2 cents worth........... *note sarcasm*

I have to agree with EB strings being a great value. I always played on DR highbeams until I bought my EB SR5, then I decided to try a set of Stainless Steel Super Slinkies (I know they only come in 4 string packs, but I purchase a .125 gauge string separately for my B string). I have to admit...they sound almost exactly like the highbeams and last just as long...and they're...what?...around 33% cheaper than highbeams? These are my #1 choice of strings now and I only plan on trying a few more brands of strings before I decide exactly what I like best (I have never played D'Addario XLs or TI Powerbass...once I try those, I will be sure to come back and post if the EBs beat them all!)...and for some reason...I think I am going to like the EBs the best. EB strings for EB basses!
